3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at Schouskjelleren, november 2011.
Red amber in color, lasting small offwhite head.
Aroma of orange, grass and spice. Hoppy taste, pine, grass, citrus, combined with caramel and herbs, some yeast notes. Bitterness is good.
On tap @ Radio Maria. Medium amber brown, pretty clear. Toasty malt with earthy and fruity undertones. Decent. wlajwl (6885) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - APR 19, 2017
Aroma is English ale yeast/malts, fruit and a hint of tobacco. The flavor is fruit/berries, malts, very mild tobacco, mild sweetness in the middle and a dry/slightly hoppy finish. scarletfire65 (1472) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 22, 2016
Bottle at home with the wife, Caressa, and Apollo. Amber brown pour with a bone white frothy head. The aroma is sweet malt, cantaloupe, bubble gum, dead flowers. Simple flavor profile with sweet malt, brown sugar, toast, apricot, vaguely piney hops. More like an amber ale of mild ale than an English ESB, but pretty good. Keg at Sugar Maple, 9/17/16. Clear copper, medium foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of toasted malt and caramel. The taste is toasted malt, grain, floral hops, honey. Medium bodied, mild lingering bitterness. MaltOne (372) - Wisconsin, USA - NOV 30, 2016
Pours slightly hazy, dark copper... brief lacy white head. Aroma is slightly sweet biscuit/shortbread. Medium body. Flavor starts faintly sweet, then turns gently towards gently towards a slightly dryer hop finish. Nice allspice notes. A faint baked shortbread base. Overall, nothing like an ESB (if rated as such, it is off character) but on its own merits, it’s very pleasant... Nice Autumnal Seasonal character of a little sweetness and spice, but with enough hops to keep it from becoming overtly sweet, and a light to medium palate that makes it quite sessionable. Consider a different category.

UPDATED: OCT 20, 2016 Draft at Bainbridge. Hazy orange amber with no lasting head. Medium sweet malty brew with a few bright earthy hop notes. Toffee. Toasted caramel bread. Apple cores. Mandarin peels. Not at all a proper English ESB to my palate but works as a good session. Refreshing. johnnymusky (983) - Minnesota, USA - SEP 16, 2016

12 oz bottle (also draft at Shorts) from notes. Pours a clear orange amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have toasted malts, caramel, some fruity character, mild floral notes, hint of earth, mild to moderate bitterness, one of the least memorable Shorts beers.
