3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at home with the wife, Caressa, and Apollo. Amber brown pour with a bone white frothy head. The aroma is sweet malt, cantaloupe, bubble gum, dead flowers. Simple flavor profile with sweet malt, brown sugar, toast, apricot, vaguely piney hops. More like an amber ale of mild ale than an English ESB, but pretty good.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours slightly hazy, dark copper... brief lacy white head. Aroma is slightly sweet biscuit/shortbread. Medium body. Flavor starts faintly sweet, then turns gently towards gently towards a slightly dryer hop finish. Nice allspice notes. A faint baked shortbread base. Overall, nothing like an ESB (if rated as such, it is off character) but on its own merits, it’s very pleasant... Nice Autumnal Seasonal character of a little sweetness and spice, but with enough hops to keep it from becoming overtly sweet, and a light to medium palate that makes it quite sessionable. Consider a different category.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: OCT 20, 2016 Draft at Bainbridge. Hazy orange amber with no lasting head. Medium sweet malty brew with a few bright earthy hop notes. Toffee. Toasted caramel bread. Apple cores. Mandarin peels. Not at all a proper English ESB to my palate but works as a good session. Refreshing.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle (also draft at Shorts) from notes. Pours a clear orange amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have toasted malts, caramel, some fruity character, mild floral notes, hint of earth, mild to moderate bitterness, one of the least memorable Shorts beers.

3.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Nice amber color with a citrus smell. The beer has a good flower with a little bit of a bitter after taste like in the name.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Different Label (than pictured) with the whole of Michigan as two leaves in some water. Nice look with a very hazy brown and super copper coloured body with a thick, three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of toffee, metal, earth and alcohol - quite pungent. Medium-bodied; Strong malt flavour with a good caramel flavour, some bitter earthy hops along with a light metallic flavour and some subdued raisin and grape flavours at the end. Aftertaste shows a touch of a smoked peat flavour coupled with a lot of malt and metal and some light hops as well, but the caramel is by far the strongest with toffee alongside. Overall, a good beer for the style, complete with a nice profile, some light complexity, and just overall good flavour for the style. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased for US$1,99 at Siciliano’s in Grand Rapids, Michigan on 11-September-2015 sampled at home in Washington on 08-November-2015.
