HopCat in East Lansing. Pours a dark brown with minimal head, but decent lacing. Smells of vanilla bourbon, and a touch of fruityness. The roastiness is prominent. The taste is complex. You get the sensations of the smell, but the booze takes over almost immediately, and drowns out some of the contributing flavors. Growler: The aroma consists of chocolate, fruit (I guess it’s dates), light vanilla, light roasted coffee, and a hint of alcohol. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a small beige ring for a head. The flavor starts with a good dose of chocolate and some light-moderate fruit. The finish has some light-moderate coffee and too much alcohol. It’s medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, it doesn’t come through in the nose but the flavor is really boozy and hot.
