Black iPas are not my favorite, but this one is pretty good. Pours a deep black with a foamy tan head. Nice floras notes finished with a toasty malted flavor. Flavors of roasted malts, slight floral flavor finished by a coffee flavor. FROMTHEBOTTLE (83) - Ontario, CANADA - MAY 6, 2015
12oz bottle. Pour is very dark. Head fades to tight tan ring. Floral notes dominate the nose as do roasted malts. Distinct bitterness shines through on the finish. Licorice and cocao are evident but oveshadowed by the bitterness. More-so than you would expect. Hard to get over that. Mr_Abner (388) - Michigan, USA - APR 27, 2015
Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a light tan head that leaves behind a mess of lacing after a few drinks. Aromas of citrus and roasted malts, some alcohol apparent as it warms. Tastes of roasted malts and fruity hops, strong bitterness. Medium bodied, average carbonation, bitter finish. SpongeRuiner (1114) - Michigan, USA - NOV 10, 2014
Another from Shorts. This one pours a dark black color. With a smooth long lasting light brown head. It settles still into an interesting oil on water look. A dark roasty licorice aroma. With a background of malt and citrus hops. A bright floral hop flavor right upfront. A sharp carbonation on the throat and tongue. A big roasty flavor comes back in the end. With warmth of cocoa flavors. Very unique. AcctError309270 (106) - Michigan, USA - OCT 19, 2014
Bottle. Black color with medium tan head. Aroma is strong pine with hints of dark chocolate. Medium body with light carbonation. Slight sweetness of chocolate, but that is overpowered by a strong hoppy pine flavor that lingers on the palate.

Pours a dark brown. Aroma is dark fruits and malts. Taste is similar to aroma with a bitter finish. Dfonorow (2274) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 6, 2014
Pour is black with a thin off-white head. Aroma of dark malt, roasted wood, caramel, and spruce tree. Flavor is a bit more bitter - coffee, smoked malt, with a hop finish. tectactoe (3125) - Michigan, USA - MAY 4, 2014
Tap: Deep, deep brown, black in the middle. Thick, light-tan head foams up with nice staying power. Aroma of heavy pines, resins, & dank hop oils up front with just a mild touch of roast back-end. Light char, bitter citrus peel. More pine needles, oily hop resin, & mild hemp in the flavor. Touch of dank; bitter, but not overly abrasive. Mid-palate, the hops settle & malt shows up, lightly toasted & caramely with subtle roast & dry cocoa powder. Very lightly sticky finish, lingering citrus peels & faint roasted malt. Overall, a very solid & tasty black IPA. TheBear11D (365) - Michigan, USA - MAY 3, 2014
Bludgeon Yer Eye pours a dark brownish plumb with a light tan brown head that lasts a good while. The aroma is floral, raisin and with a bit of cheese. The flavor is raisin, earthy and some cheese. Overall this is a pretty good brew. salvaticas (979) - - APR 26, 2014
On tap at Ashley's. Pours a dark black, but with hops and citrus on the nose. Nice flavor but a bit of an unfinished bitter back end.
