Amazing IPA. Super floral. Not huge on black iPA’s but this was great. Not too roasty, great IPA bitterness ColovianTrader (464) - - APR 17, 2014
Great smelling beer. Sweet and floral. Flavors start with malts. Caramel, toffee and unsweetened chocolate. Finish is all hops. Floral, with undertones of citrus peel, oranges and some spice. Hints of toasted grains. rumproasts (5478) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - MAR 5, 2014
bottle. deep brown with small head. interesting take on the black ipa style. sweet malty base with dark fruit. big hops. blklab2007 (2120) - Connecticut, USA - FEB 20, 2014
Bottle poured a deep brown color with a coating of tan head that retained a ring on the glass. Aroma has punchy hops, citrus, resins, underlying chocolate, and dark malts. Mouth feel is average and the carbonation medium low. Flavor has plenty of both malt and hops. Dark malts, resins, citrus, chocolate, creeping bitterness, and a hit of underlying sweetness. Pours a dark brown, almost with a purple hue, Looks like root beer. Low to medium carbonation. Minimal off-white head. Diminishes quick into a thin ring of lacing around the glass. Smells of bitter hops, sweet malts, dark fruits, wine-like at times. Tastes bitter with roasty malt undertones. Some sweetness sneaks in...pine...citrus...very nice. Finishes big and bitter. Lingers a while but enjoyable.

Bottle to half-pint glass (shared with the Mrs.). Looks good; cola with thin beige head. Smells and tastes of dark malt, hops, and roast. Solid on the palate. Enjoyable. devman171 (1221) - Annapolis, Maryland, USA - DEC 25, 2013
Bottle pours black with low head. Aroma is pine resin and roast, taste is similar with a nice dry bitter finish Alextricity (509) - Michigan, USA - DEC 16, 2013
Bottled 11/08/13 (?) and poured into a shaker pint. Part of a $10 Mix-a-Six at Fairway Sav-Mor in Eastpointe, Michigan.
Appearance: Crystal clear ruby black with a creamy sand colored head on top. Incredible sip-for-sip lacing. Perfect in my book.
Smell: Holy hops, they aren’t fooling around with this beer. Massive pine and earthy notes, with citrus undertones. A slight roastiness, but that super hoppy smell doesn’t match its dark color.
Taste/feel: More of those hops. Tastes nothing like a black ale to me until the beer reaches the middle of the mouth and on the finish, when the roasty bitterness couples with the hops. A pretty damn bitter beer, so prepare yourself. Very dry, resinous, pleasant lingering hoppiness on the finish. Medium body with a medium carbonation, making this a pretty easy drinking beer, even with the lack of balance. Tasty stuff. Additionally, is this beer seriously 5%? It feels like it could easily be about 7%. I find it incredible that this beer’s ABV is what it is. Nephilium (1821) - Cleveland, Ohio, USA - DEC 3, 2013
Nice hoppy aroma, with a hint of roast. Pours a dark ruby red, with a thin tan head. Solid flavor, starting with roast, fading into some grassy hop notes. Long lingering bitter finish, a quite tasty Black IPA. RespertFTW (521) - Michigan, USA - DEC 2, 2013
Bottle. Deep black appearance. Medium khaki head. Citrus pine and malt. Maybe a little too light bodied. Ok balance.
