Pour on tap at GABF, dark brownish black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of cocoa powder, dark chocolate, coffee into a nicely hopped pine, orange, resinous note with a minty note, some toast. Taste was a mix of toast, dark chocolate, coffee and roasted malt into resin, pine, spruce tips, hints of orange, finishing bitter. JK (6240) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA - JAN 12, 2013
GABF, 2012. I thought it might be a heavily hopped stout. Roasted grain and full bodied hop flavor. Maybe the best black IPA I have had. daknole (11050) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - OCT 28, 2012
Dark pour at GABF. Aroma is a mix of roasty hops, tons of spruce, cedar, resin and light roasted malt. Flavors are just a great mix of dark malt, spruce, resin, christmas trees. Hella good. Dogbrick (13410) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - OCT 20, 2012
Sample at GABF 10/11/2012, thanks to Bluemeow76 for assistance with note-taking. The beer is a dark brown color with a medium thin tan head and strings of lace. Aroma of roasted malt and piney hops. Light-bodied with a toasty malt character and notes of piney/spruce hops and a touch of fruit. The finish is malty up front with a hoppy aftertaste. Pretty good overall.
