Tap @ Shorts: Ruby-ish tinted brown with a khaki layer of foam, thinly on top. Aroma full of nutty caramel, toffee, & mild barrel. Perhaps a hint of vanilla & dark fruit. Lots of ashy bourbon & charred smoke in the flavor with back-end sweetness in the form of toffee & prunes. Light nuttiness & wood, perhaps a little thin. Didn’t realize this was only 5.5% ABV at the time... Makes more sense, now. Gets better with time & inherits a sweet, brown sugar finish. On tap: The aroma consists of chocolate, caramel, maple syrup, and a hint of fruit. It’s a dark brown with no transparency and a small tan head. The flavor starts with moderate chocolate, caramel, and vanilla. The finish has moderate maple syrup, raisin, bourbon, and a touch of oak. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation. Bourbon happy jack pours a dark coppery brown with a foamy off-white head that lasts a bit and leaves excellent lacing. The aroma is caramel, vanilla and bread. The flavor is vanilla, caramel and bread. Overall this is a pleasant brew.

Draft at the brewpub, Bellaire. Dark orange-brown body, tin off-white/beige head. Lots of barrel notes in the nose and the body- oak and vanilla, with light caramel and toast in the flavor profile and warming alcohol notes.

On tap at the brewpub. Dark golden pour with a white head. Bourbon, smoky malt and a bit of ginger in the aroma and taste. Solid bourbon barrel aged Scottish ale.
