PUNCH in the face with hops. Not a ton of flavor. Almost gimmicky with the hop overload.

Smell of hop, malt, sweet caramel. Drink from bottle. Taste of IPA bitterness, smooth goes well with hop balance. Doesn’t taste as sweet as first smell, which is good. Right texture, not too slimy. Good IPA, but not top. superspak (5500) - Michigan, USA - NOV 8, 2016
22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 10/13/2016. This batch is 11.8% per their website. Pours clear deep orange/light copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, bread, light pepper, and floral/grassy/oaky earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/pine hops, bourbon barrel, and moderate dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Some increasing barrel booziness in the aromas as it warms. Flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, bread, light pepper, and floral/grassy/oaky earthiness. Light-moderate pine/grassy bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon/orange peel, pine, caramel, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, bread, light pepper, and floral/grassy/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine hops, bourbon barrel, and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero astringent hop flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from hop bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a smooth, moderately creamy/sticky, and slightly resinous balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is fairly well hidden with a small warmth and a bit of barrel booziness lingering after the finish; but not overwhelming. Overall this is an excellent barrel aged DIPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine hops, bourbon barrel, and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to sip on for the huge ABV. Less vibrant/aggressive on the hops/bitterness than the base beer, but has nice balanced barrel complexity; and is not overwhelming on the bourbon, though is a bit boozy. A very enjoyable offering. Bottle - the pour is cloudy and burnt orange in color with a thin head that lingers. The aroma is very bright and hoppy. The taste is bitter from the hops, a little sweetness from the malts to balance the bitter bite of the hops. Additionally there are notes of tea in the flavor as well. The finish is malty and bitter hops. Overall it is very hopped beer, FROTHINGSLOSH (7670) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 13, 2016
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy vibrant copper color with a large foamy orange-white head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was bitter, piney, fruity, rough and earthy. The flavor was bitter, floral , herbal, earthy and rough. Long finish. Medium body. Disappointing.

This finished number two in my list of Michigan ipa. Same pine, oak, citrus flavor. Two hearted puts it all together better...just barely. fitwitchik (433) - Ohio, USA - SEP 18, 2014
Poured from a bottle fresh into a pint glass straw with a whitish head.
Aroma is grassy hops some ever so slight bourbon?
Flavor is oaky grassy as heck hops with some sweetness. Bitter finish like a good IPA should
Second time to consume this brew and continue to enjoy. The oakiness is upfront like the kick in your pants hops. If there was more sweet bourbon I would probably keel over in happiness. Alas still a decent brew from the state up north. lightbias (453) - USA - JUN 5, 2014
In a tulip, golden pour with no head to speak of. On tap at Guinness, Thee Irish Pub in the Detroit airport.
This IPA has a definite place in my heart from here on. The waitress told me there were 156 IBUs and although I had a better idea, I decided to jump in with both feet. Nice and smooth like a fine bourbon, bitter without biting too hard. Aftertaste is boozy but lasts true to the taste of the beer throughout. An excellent addition to my meal and something I would buy again if given an opportunity.
