4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Wonderful IPA strong citrus notes finishes clean very well balanced at 8.5% by far the best I have had from shorts!
Reviewed from notes. Rcvd in trade.
This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance had a deep bronzed amber color with a mild transparency about it with a fairly decent one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute and leaving a light trickling lacing.
The smell had a fairly decent grapefruit presence with a fairly nice resinous and somewhat piney-ness rolling underneath my nose.
The taste took those flavors to combine with a nice orange to grapefruit structure that allowed a decent sweet orange to piney aftertaste and a dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat right about at a medium on the body and had a fairly decent sessionability about it.
Overall, hey, not a bad DIPA, I’d probably have again if I could get it in my distro. tectactoe (3125) - Michigan, USA - MAY 14, 2014
UPDATED: AUG 29, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Jeff. Worn copper penny color, almost deep amber, mildly translucent with a centrifuge haze. Bubbly, wishy washy white head recedes quickly on top. Aroma has a nice tangerine, guava, & grapefruit combo up front, large gushing citrus presence all around. Resinous, dank pine needles & spicy hop leaves in the back. General maltiness detected, but the hops certainly overshadow it. Tastes of orange rind, grapefruit pith, ashy leaves, dank pines, hop oils, & unfiltered resins. Malt structure is more identifiable; light biscuit & bready sweetness, but the aftertaste is dominated with a resounding, herbal bitterness of spice, leaves, & bitter citrus peel. I know many people weren’t a huge fan of this one, but I quite liked it, & thought it was just a tiny notch above its little brother. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - JAN 10, 2014
Bottle:   Deep orange, some haze, moderate frothy white head, decent lacing.   Bright citrusy nose, a bit candied.   Soft alcohol.   Pithy up front, alcoholic pithiness.   Smidgen of candied citrus peel but its dominated by that alcoholic pith.   A little tough at times.   Somewhat sticky, moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   Finishes a bit rough, lots of strong alcoholic pith.   Could stand to be smoother, much smoother. alliance100 (1159) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - NOV 16, 2013
12 oz bottle - pours a deep orangish copper . Piney resin and citrus rind aromas . Juicy citrus bitterness up front but finishes with more herbal pine. Bitterness lingers . Overall a pretty a tasty 2x IPA.

Another bottle thanks to Another6Pack. Cheers, Trent!
It pours a clear golden colour with a small fine layer of foam that yields some nice lacing.
Oh my, the nose is so fresh and vibrant and balanced. It smells oily like in wet hops...grapefruit and pineapple dominate from the hop side. Throughout the nose, caramel malt provides the necessary sweetness to bring this beer to a balanced state.
Tasting provides proof that this is still a hop forward DIPA. Grapefruit and pineapple juiciness almost make my mouth pucker because of the rather intense bitterness but the caramel malt does play a part in tempering that bitterness. And, what’s that word to describe the hoppy yet mildly malty presence in a beer of this style...oh yeah, dank. Earthy. Yummy.
A very nice mouthfeel with the medium body and carbonation with the alcohol not playing a major role.
A pretty different take on the style, imho, and a winner.

On tap at Short’s GTMW2013 preparty. Pours a slightly hazy orangish amber color with a cream colored head. Aroma is focused on citrus: big grapefruit, orange, tangerine. Some tropical fruit notes, resin, and some floral notes. Maybe a touch of bready and caramel malts. Flavor is mostly bitter and flavorful citrus and pine hops. Balances a bit by fruity juiciness and caramel.
Fullish bodied with medium carbonation, somewhat creamy texture. Finishes long and bitter. Quite nice. koleminer20 (3840) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - SEP 30, 2013
I'm a little skeptical on this 12 oz bottle. Bottle date of 04/05/13. Pours a nice reddish gold with ZERO head. Not even an inkling of carbonation here. Poured kind of like a syrup. The aroma is beautiful. Very citrusy on the immediate nose and it fades into a great piney, hoppy finish. The look and smell could very easily cover what's to follow. Very flat. The taste is died way down, zero carbonation, awful finish. This muse be a bad bottle. Perhaps a re-rate later.

bottle. Amber with small head. Mild malt body and substantial hops. I really liked the initial hop profile, but then I was hit by a strange subtle fishiness that lingered. It was very small, but it did keep me from rating this up in the 4+ range. superspak (5877) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - SEP 9, 2013
12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 4/5/2013. Pours lightly hazy orange amber color with a 1 finger dense cream colored head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, pineapple, orange zest, tangerine, orange rind, pine resin, floral, grass, caramel, bread, toast, and floral earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity of hop notes with a good amount of malt balance; and good strength. Taste of grapefruit, pineapple, orange zest, tangerine, orange rind, pine resin, floral, grass, caramel, bread, toast, and floral earthiness. Good amount of pine resin bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, pineapple, orange zest, orange rind, tangerine, pine, floral, caramel, bread, toast, and floral earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity and balance of hop flavors with a good amount of malt balance; and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy, fairly slick, and sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice DIPA. All around good balance and complexity of hop and malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering. devman171 (1221) - Annapolis, Maryland, USA - SEP 7, 2013
