UPDATED: OCT 27, 2008 OMG. Hope you like cloves! Talk about bouquet... this is packed with spices, so if you’re not into that you should probably skip this one. Crisp, and one of the lighter pumpkin beers, the complexity of spices here reminds me of spice cake. I can taste some molasses like flavor, cloves and nutmeg, and then it’s very strong cinnamon on the back end. It is a lot reminiscent of GLBC Christmas Ale, but with pumpkin. On tap at Pete’s Place. Pours an interesting dark amber color. Looks almost like a fresh apple cider. A big spiced pumpkin aroma with a very true pumpkin flavor. The flavor is nice a fresh. A nice pumpkin vegetal kick upfront with a nice spicy blend. Would go great with a fruit pie. A solid pumpkin effort from Shorts. And one on the higher end for me as pumpkin brews go. paintedmaple (671) - People’s Republic of Bloomington, Indiana, USA - SEP 23, 2014
On tap at Fenton Fire Hall...dark orange pour and a very earthy roasted pumpkin flavor with fresh ground real spices. One of the best pumpkin beers I’ve had and glad to see its out of retirement! gearbike (512) - West Bloomfield, Michigan, USA - OCT 7, 2008
Very drinkable. A nice combination of a very wet like pumkin flavor with a moth tingling amount of spice. Has that very spicy pumkin pie taste without the heavy feeling like you are eating a pie.

Growler courtesy of Rogueone. Pours a deep amber/light brown with no head. Aroma of strong clove with a fairly strong cinnamon and nutmeg presence. I want my pumpkin beers to be heavily spiced, and the aroma of this one does not disappoint. Flavor is strong clove and nutmeg up front, finished with cinnamon and just enough hop to add some balance. Solid pumpkin brew. bpar73 (1118) - Bellaire, Michigan, USA - OCT 17, 2011
UPDATED: OCT 31, 2014 Growler from the pub. Orange/gold pour with a light lacy head. Pleasant pumpkin and spice aroma and taste with a smooth finish. Pailhead (6539) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - OCT 27, 2012
On tap: The aroma consists of heavy gingerbread, nutmeg, cinnamon, brown sugar, and pumpkin. It’s a transparent amber with a small khaki head. The flavor starts with a quick dose of caramel, brown sugar, and light pumpkin. The finish has heavy ginger and light nutmeg. It’s light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, a little too heavy on the ginger. VeloVampire (625) - Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 14, 2007
UPDATED: OCT 17, 2007 On tap at City Park Grill in Petoskey - came a clear brownish/orange woth a small white head. Big spicy aroma of nutmeg and cinnamon, along with a good malt backbone. Nice and thick in the mouth with lots of cinnamon, but not "heavy" and quite drinkable. Soft but mildly spicy palate and nicely carbonated. Quality beer, and perfect for this time of year. northernbrews (25) - Allen Park, Michigan, USA - OCT 22, 2008
Picked up a growler for Styles. Haven’t had this is a few years so lets see what I’ve been missing.
Pours a orangish brown w/ few finger khaki head. Slight lacing on my goblet.
Starts w/ some pumpkin pie spices of nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, and pumpkin. Little bit of malty sweetness too. Wish the aroma was a little more intense though.
It starts a little creamy w/ similar flavors as the nose, but just less pronounced. Not much in the after taste. You get the pumpkin and spice flavors in the beginning then it kind of fades to nothing.
Starts creamy on the palate and the flavors hang around for a little bit. There a slight warming feeling probably due to the spices.
Nice sessionable Pumpkin/Autumn ale. Wish the flavors were more pronounced.
