Hopstach typifies the boldness that comes from American hop varieties. The aroma is dominated by fruity ale yeast esters and fragrant grapefruit tones. Initial malt sweetness is low, and citrus fruit and floral hop qualities overpower any other perceived flavors. Aided by the addition of grapefruit zest, the finish is a sharp hop shock that electrifies the mouth, but is not overly bitter.

12oz. bottle, one of the better labels that I’ve seen. Pours a light clear orange with white head. Fantastic hoppy grapefruit aroma. Taste is super grape-fruity with some citrus, quite bitter finish. Good brew.

Hopstache, sure, fine, whatever. It is what is, and what it shall be, world without end. Amen. Or not. it is a sassy little weapon in the war we all wage against sobriety but it is NOT the 50 MEGATON WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION that Blatz is. Blatz singlehandedly has kept millions wasted since 1851! Think about it. I have, and I ought to know, I’ve been to Milwaukee.

Bottle from Michigan. Nose is hop and citrus and body follows. Bit of mild sugar to balance but not much. Smooth acrid feel with citrus rind finish. Decent to good. Would do again. Plus bottle has an uncle Rico lookalike.

Pretty much a "typical" Shorts IPA, which means it’s pretty good. Yes, there is grapefruit but just a taste. Mildly bitter.

Poured from a bottle dated 5/29/2015. Aroma is moderately malty with some cracker malt notes and light toasted bread. Moderate grapefruit aroma with some pine resin and some dank wood notes. A bit of an odd phenolic note similar to decomposing wet grass. Pours a hazy, dull, golden orange with a small, moderately thick white head that exhibits decent retention as it recedes to the edges where it lingers. Moderate lacing and small legs. Flavor starts with a light sweetness and some cracker and light caramel notes. Moderately strong bitterness. Moderate grapefruit notes with some lighter orange and pine resin. A light dank note with some lingering cracker malt character. None of the weird note that was in the aroma. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright beer but grapefruit sculpin is much better. The odd aroma is off putting, but the flavor is better. The flavor is pretty light on the grapefruit zest though.

On tap at The Laundry. Pours cloudy golden with a nice white head and a citrus aroma. There is a very dry pale malt flavor with lots of body and a long dry citrus finish.
