A complex malt and hop theme park in your mouth
Huma Lupa Licious’ name derives from the hop plant, Humulus lupulus. It is Short’s best-selling India Pale Ale. Huma Lupa Licious is brewed with five different hop varieties, providing a punch to the palate. Between the beer’s abundance of hops, and the type of hops used in its creation, it has a delicious bitter taste and enticing citrus aroma. The hearty malt bill melds well with the hops for a perfect balance.

Huma Lupa Licious is the product of Joe Short wanting to create the ultimate IPA experience. Originally, Huma Lupa Licious was named Humulus Lupulus Maximus, and went through several recipe changes before settling on the recipe we know and love today.

Dark golden to light amber in color. Taller head that is mostly lasting, but ends up quite fluffy and leaves a nice sheet of lace. Dark caramel and mild licorice aromas dominate. Hints of zest and melon in the background. Medium body with a little oiliness and a touch of acid that zips things along. A bit woody in the finish. A bit more traditional. 5/10

Pillow off-white head. Mild bread and citrus aroma. Oddly soft on the palate. Strong flavor profile with nice citrus and tropic fruit on top of a solid malt sweetness that sneaks in just before a solidly bitter finish. I’d like it to be a bit crisper on the palate.

Bottle courtesy of my friend Lance. Thanks! Cloudy golden amber with a short frothy off-white head. Nose is very floral and fruity with hop resins and sweet malt notes. Taste is big floral and citrus hops, light tropical fruit and big hop oil notes. Sweet malt backbone underlying the hoppiness. Body is medium with a slightly oily feel with a dense, creamy carbonation. Ends with more citrus, tropical fruit notes, big hop resins, citrus oils, soft malt and floral notes.

This is a West coast style ipa. Aroma is malt, hops, caramel. Flavor’s similar to nose plus heavy bitter and just enough carbonic tang.

Wow cigarette ash taste. Wonderful. I don't particularly like this or the price I paid! It's got a strong upfront weird non hop taste and off flavor! Wtf. Smells bad too. I have 6 of these to drink. I'm screwed. I don't like it at all. Am I being an arrogant bastard? ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

3 month old bottle. Pours a cloudy golden orange with an average white head that leaves decent lacing. Aroma is citrus and must. Orange and grapefruit are strong as well as bits of pine. Taste is dank hops, lots of pine, and citrus fruit. Bread and caramel as well. Thick for the style and no visible alcohol. Good beer.

Poured from the bottle of a six pack, has a gritty sandy texture, some dry and sticky, getting some fresh cut grass, black pepper, it almost seems watery which is hard to believe at 7.7% but that’s what I’m getting.
