Draft at Short’s. Slightly hazy light to medium orange body, medium cream head. Light sweet nose with flower petals. Perfumey body with light sweetness, mostly floral hops and nectar; soft and herbal with light bitterness. Not bad. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - AUG 13, 2012
Small pour on tap at Brickhouse BBQ (Madison, WI). Pours a richer golden hue, touches of deeper glow show some orange fire, some thicker haze, and frothy whitish head atop is a firm layer, laces ok overall. Frothy and a decent lacing. Aromas are mellow citrusy and American hops, distinct gumball, mellow sweetness, tropical fruit, and touches of grapefruit, florals, bready mellow malts. Initial is lighter end of medium, maybe even into light bodied. Mellow grapefruit, florals, and lemons. Some earth, firm dryness and bitter American hpp varietals. A bit more bitter as we get further in, that distinct toasty and biscuity malt Shorts feel comes on strong in middle and backend. Still remains dry and bitter hopped, some grapefruit, lemon, and firmer flowers flash. Medium dryness as we finish up. A solid APA, but that Shorts biscuity element is strong and fast, a bit odd when it does come on. But, overall it’s a solid offering with a firm or good level of hops and bitterness to keep me interested.
