3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Served on tap in a pint glass at Red Baron.
Inside my pint glass is a hazy orange amber beer with just a few stray bubbles floating around the edge of the glass.
The aroma is less intense than I would prefer, but it is spot on key lime pie. Graham cracker, lime, and cream are all present over a thin malt base.
Getting a beer to taste like key lime pie is a brewing accomplishment, even with all of the adjuncts that Short’s used. The beer has a nice progression - first the flavor is sweet and tangy, representing the sweet side of the custard filling. Next the graham cracker crust comes in, bringing a malty, vanilla, and cinnamon sweetness with it. Finally the lime bursts through in a tart way, wrapping up the flavor with pizzazz.
The carbonation is gentle and falls in between crisp and creamy. There are a lot of residual sugars in here that leave my mouth feeling sticky. The body drinks a little bit above the 5% ABV, although not by much. The creamy lactose and unfermented sugars definitely add to the viscosity of the ber.
This is a fun beer from Short’s that is worth trying fresh on tap.
Aroma is lime/meringue and grainy malts/parts. The flavor is lime, caramel,berries/fruit and a sweet/tart finish. gephross100 (943) - Bellaire, Texas, USA - DEC 4, 2016
Bottle thanks to Chad. Pours dark orange with some white floaters in it. Key lime and diacetyl nose. Very astringent finish. This is a beer crime. jsmerig (1663) - Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 23, 2016
Pours a cloudy caramel. Aroma of malt and vanilla. Taste is graham cracker sweet with a sour finish. The mouthfeel is creamy which fills out the pie. Interesting. Novel but not too good for longer drinking sessions.

Bottle. Hazy tan color. Aroma is nothing like key lime pie. Honestly I don't know what this is. Smells like Malts and booze. Maybe caramel. This tastes nothing like key lime pie. Terrible. Just terrible.

Bottle. Lime, caramel malt, and grass aroma. Amber with small head. Very sweet lime, caramel malt, and moderately bitter herbal grass flavor. Good body. Sweetness seems to clash with the bitterness - not very pleasant.

12 oz bottle. Bottled on 07/29/16. (Econo Foods) Marquette, MI.
Slightly cloudy reddish brown color with a tiny head.
Sweet malty aroma.
The flavor is... Downright horrible. Super bad! Down the drain.

Smell is weak, citrus and sweet malt. Dark golden brown. Description is right on. Long finish but wet. I’d different. Couldn’t drink many. arkurzynski (2456) - Combined Locks, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 16, 2016
Amber orange. Nose if limeade, cracker malt with more citrus. Flavor is pale ale with heavy lime zest. Not getting it, but not a drain pour. RobertDale (6755) - Lansing, Kansas, USA - SEP 6, 2016
12 ounce bottle. Pours golden brown with an average beige head. Some floaties. Aroma of citrus, malt, and graham crackers. Taste is lime, graham crackers, malt, and grain. Interesting. Msdrbeat (780) - East Lansing, USA - SEP 5, 2016
Bottled. Pours with floaties which the brewery assured me is normal for this beer but not really starting out on a great first step here. Smells tart with almost a hint of metallic to me. Not too sweet or tart, tad bit of malt with what I think is the marshmallow fluff? It’s okay but I wish I didn’t buy a 6 pack.
