12 ounce bottle into weizen glass, bottled on 10/8/2013. Pours very hazy golden amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense white head with decent retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Minimal lacing clings glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big pear, apple, lemon zest, banana, clove, wheat, bread, bubblegum, pepper, honey, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity and balance of malt and fruity/spicy yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of pear, apple, lemon zest, banana, clove, wheat, bread, honey, bubblegum, pepper, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of light fruits, lemon, banana, clove, bubblegum, wheat, honey, bread, pepper, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Nice balance and complexity of malt and fruity/spicy yeast flavors; with solid robustness and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a moderately creamy, slick, and lightly crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice hefeweizen style. All around good balance and complexity of malt and yeast flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering. Draft at the brewpub. Slightly hazy translucent amber body, thin off-white ring of carbonation. Leafy, bready nose with grassy wheat. Caramely, toasty body, cerealy (Wheat Chex) with light sugars. Dry, biscuity, and light. Tmoney99 (14866) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 2, 2012
Draft. Poured hazy dark amber color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate dough and wheat aroma. Medium body with a smooth tingly texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Soft summer brew. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - JUN 10, 2012
Draft (note -- on tap at Churchkey at same time as Nicie Spicie, not the same beer). Lightly hazed apple juice body with white head. Aroma is medium sweet, cereal, some wheat. Taste is medium sweet, cereal, some wheat. Light-medium body, light creaminess. Really bland, my least favorite (by far) of the Short’s I tried.
