Liquified laughter from fruit filled disaster.
Simply put: Fruit Rye Ale. A bountiful blend of toasted rye flakes and two row malted barley make wort fermented with 200 pounds of pureed strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries resulting in a sweet fruity delicacy. Dude. How am I expected to like a beer that plainly says in the RB descript "brewed special for those LADIES who enjoy their wine."? Iíll give it a shot. How off-putting. [A] Aroma is non-offensive berry. Banana. Strawberry. Pleasant fruit. Without being too rotten, artificial, weak, or up front. [A] Clear amber. Reddish, with pink-white head. [F] Its a fruit beer. Did you expect roast, maybe? No. Fruity, slightly tart flavors. Actually, banana, or yeastiness follows through. Rye, not so much. And the fruit variety is actually, yes, that of an Arbor Mist or MD 20/20 wine. So-so. [P] Bottled, on a hot day, I could probably do this much better than any other fruit beer, period. 9% could catch up quick, as it is not at all noticeable. Drinkable. But, you have to look past the fruit, I guess. Light. Highly carbonated, crisp mouth. [O] Decent fruit beer. One of the few impressions from Shortís brewery Iíve had. And itís no Berry Weiss. So I guess I could have hated this more. But I donít think Shortís needs to worry about its feminine appeal.

Draft. A- Berries, medicinal, sweet. A- Reddish color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Berries, sweet, plastic. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, sweet finish. O- Too sweet and artificial tasting. For a rye beer it could use a lot more of that.

This is unquestionably a fruit beer. Sweet, with lots of strawberry flavor. Not much tartness and a little soap (ehh). I think it is natural but it wanders too close to the badlands ruled by the evil alcopop gods. Some tartness in the aroma. Cute label. Itís well done, and I wish I liked it more than I did, but it needs something. Iíll keep an eye out for more Shortís.

Red-amber pour, thin white head. Aroma is fruity. Flavor is what I expected with a synthetic taste. Wet finish. Sweet. Alcohol is masked.

Slightly hazy citrusy ruby hue with a thin off white cap. Fruity nose thatís a touch citrusy but also has berries and melon and apple and more berries, a touch of honey--but isnít super sweet ok the nose. Crisp bright pale malty base for a flavor, a little bready, but sweet with strawberry and apricot and melon and berries. Interesting but a bit one dimensional.

Bottle. Bright berry aroma with strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, and blackberry with a little bit of rye and light vinous notes. Pours pinkish-amber with about one finger of white head that burns off quickly to leave a bit of retention and decent lacing. Starts with tart berry flavors with a little bit of earthiness from the rye. Finishes a bit dry with white wine flavors as well as the berry sweetness. Nice, refreshing brew.

Bot. Looks great in the glass, all pinkish light brown and all. has a good fruit tart beer nose about it. Oooooo, my. This stuff comes across like grain alky fruit pop o the palate. Better take it easy on this. Whew. QUITE STRONG, QUITE VOLATILE, QUITE IN YER FACE. Difficult medicine all round. The looks and nose were a decoy. High gravity doesnít even begin to describe this brew. Come to think of it, it starts to come across like a fruity barley wine in the end. Will kick your ass if yer not careful.

From bottle, the pour is reddish pink, clearly made with fruit, the head it white with pink hues. The aroma is bread yeast, a little berry and sweetness. The taste is pleasant, berries are abundant but not overpowering, they compliment the ale. Being an imperial ale, it calms the sugars from the berries and makes the beer taste like a ale with berries in the background. In the finish is sweetness, strawberries yeast, and almost a slight ice cream flavor. With all this makes this seam overly sweet it is not, it is balanced and the flavors pull through with the right amount of sweetness. The carbonation is strong with a thin mouthfeel.
