Local’s Light is a light, yet very tasty lager. The light pilsen malt creates a soft and subtle flavor profile that finishes crisp and clean on your palate.

Local’s Light is a perfect beer for the seasoned craft brew enthusiast and someone new to microbrews. When Short’s first opened, there was not a great deal of craft beer available in the area. Joe Short wanted to create a beer that would appeal to new craft beer drinkers who lived in Michigan, and introduce them to the complex flavors of other beer styles.

UPDATED: NOV 11, 2013 Bottle: thanks, Jeff! Hazed, bright straw color with almost no head, just a soapy white collar. Aroma is full of sweet bread & grain, lots of lemon zest, a touch of crisp apple, & a fresh helping of lager yeast. Taste is light & crisp with some light bread, grain, faint DMS, lager yeast, mild lemon zest, & a touch of corn-like sweetness in the finish. A touch metallic with even more DMS in the aftertaste. A decent crafted lager if you’re looking to throw back a bunch.

Rated on 9-11-2017. The appearance of this draft beer is a small smooth white head that is mostly lasting, transparent medium yellow body, no carbonation observed, and a good amount of lacing. The aroma is malt and the flavor is malty and sweet. The mouthfeel is smooth and clean. This beer is light-medium bodied. This is an easy drinking beer with nothing very special about it.

This draft brew from a beer bar was served at a cool temperature and poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a uncarbonated body semi-transparent yellow colored body and a thick foamy lacing. The weak aroma was malt hop. The semi-sharp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish malt hop aftertaste. The ok flavor contained notes of mild citrus hops and malt. An OK brew just nothing special.

funky sour smell, hints of tree bark and cereal. It's not really terrible but I'm not reaching for another one.

Crisp and slightly hazy golden coloured body with a thinnish, single centimetre tall pure white head. Aroma of grass, metal, light malt, cardboard, a bit of funky sugars and a dose of fruits - mainly oranges. Light-bodied; Definite fruity and grassy qualities at first with some white grapes, oranges, lemons and a touch of grass noticeable, while showing some subdued malt elements, cardboard and finishing with a nice yeastie note with bread, grass and even some honey noticeable. Aftertaste is light and dry with some mellow sweetness, a touch of grain and a kick of yeast noticeable as well. Overall, a decent and refreshing beer that shows the start of the summer pretty well, plus a good light option from a real brewery in Michigan! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 24-July-2015 for US$1,79 sampled at home in Washington on Memorial Day 2017 on 29-May-2017.

At Crosby’s kitchen, well done for what it is, would be super on a hot day but over all not my thing. Serving: Tap

Aroma is grainy malts and medium sweetness. The flavor is pale malts, grainy texture, mild fruit, medium sweetness, and a slightly spicy hop/tart finish.

High hopes for this can, I’ve just run thru a few different short IPAs. Aroma is mild vanilla and metal. Looks like a pleasant hay colored slightly hazy lager. Good co2 initially. Yes, lighter flavor, probably should be listed as a pale lager. Does have a little more yeast flavor than most pale lagers. I almost think it may be some kind of belgian yeast. Goes down fairly easy in the end, overall medium experience refreshment.

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Ann Arbor Roosevelt, 3/15/16, as Local’s American Lager. Slightly hazy golden, thin fizzy tan head good retention. Aroma of skunk and corn? Also some hay and grass. The taste is grainy malt, corn, grassy hops. Thin bodied.

Hazy straw color; Light to medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of malt, cereal, some floral, & citrus notes; Flavor of slight sweet malt, cereal, corn syrup, and light hops/grain; Not terrible - but meh.

Bottle courtesy of my friend Lance. Thanks! Straw yellow with a short, fizzy white head. Aroma is corny and sweet with light grassy notes. taste is also corny and sweet with light fruit and grass. Body is light with a soft, prickly carbonation. Ends with more corn, sweet malt and light grass.
