I had this on tap, poured a dark reddish brown with a tiny tan head. It had a caramel, malty aroma and tasted much the same. It was rather sweet, but not overpowering. I enjoyed this beer, nice medium body, light carbonation...it would be a good drinking beer. gbdub (73) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - JUL 5, 2009
At the brewery in May. Dark, cloudy red-brown with thin off white head. Toffee-malt aroma, complex flavor with toffee, dried fruit, and a bit of roasty cocoa. Headbanger (3999) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - JUL 4, 2009
Growler from Brewery 7/4/09-Pours a dark brown with a small tan ring for a head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, toffee, and chocolate. Taste of the same with sweeter spots and a bit of berry on the back end. This full bodied brew is quite tasty and well balanced. xnoxhatex (1305) - Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA - JUN 7, 2009
On tap at the brewery. Hazy, almost muddy dark brown with small beige head. Aromoa is semi-sweet fudge with caramel and mollases. Flavor is sweeter caramel and fruit with some spice and orange peel. Medium body with light carbonatin. Very good. JaBier (7973) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - JUN 1, 2009
Growler shared by Rogueone. Pours a semi-cloudy red with a thin tan head. Incredibly malty aroma with grain, caramel and cream. Creamy caramel flavor with a bit of berry on the finish.

Thanks to Rogueone for sharing a growler. This brew is a clear reddish-amber color with a medium thin light beige head that diminishes quickly. Thin rings of lacing on the glass. Light caramel malt and fruit in the nose. Light, clean body with flavors of toasted malt and caramel flavors along with some fresh fruit. The finish is short and malty with a light fruit aftertaste. Slightly above average overall. alexsdad06 (10430) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - FEB 1, 2009
Draft @ Shorts. Pours a slightly hazy deep copper color with a medium beige head. The aroma is a nice fruity combination of raisins, citrus, and berries along with caramel malt. The flavor comes off just a touch weak, but maybe it was surrounded by bigger beers? Decent caramel malt base with the fruits from the nose. This is a nice drinking amber. kramer (6682) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 25, 2009
From growler, shared by Beerlando. Pours a clear reddish body with a small beige head. Nice sweet aroma, some cherry fruit and just a touch of cereal grains and floral hops. Decent flavor for and Amber Ale, a touch sweet with some light hops, just a very solid easy drinking beer. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with nice gentle carbonation. Overall, pretty darn good for what it was. Not exciting but a nice beer to session on. GodOfThunder (1249) - Orlando, Florida, USA - DEC 12, 2008
Cherry colored with a thin white head. The smell is very sweet, with vanilla and toffee being the strongest notes. Some toasted bread notes lingering, too. Taste is lightly toasted malts, toffee and a slight tartness. Nothing really amazing, but better than most ambers. Beerlando (3342) - Orlando, Florida, USA - DEC 9, 2008
Growler, courtesy GodOfThunder. The body is a clear, dark, crimson red color, and is topped with a minimal, off-white, hazy film. Virtually no lacing noted. Aromas proved overly sweet for my taste, notes of caramel, biscuit, and toast with orange marmalade dominating. Hints of floral hops and some dried, green, leafy spices lend some semblance of bitterness, but not enough to counter the sweet malts. Flavors follow suit, malty, biscuity caramel dominating, with just a glimmer of floral and citrus hop notes. Medium bodied and syrupy, the mouthfeel suffers from the sugar content. Knowing the creativity and excellence that Shorts is capable of, this one is a major disappointment.
