Bottle. It poured a black color with a tan head. The aroma was of malts, chocolate, caramel, vanilla and some coconut. The taste was similar to the aroma with more malts, chocolate, caramel, vanilla, coconut, cinnamon with medium carbonation and a nice smooth chewy aftertaste. Tasty. Sampled at Vyvvy’s tasting. Pretty much black with no head. Delicious stuff. Cinnamon, coconut, chocolate, huge dark malts. Big and a little hot. Ok, a little soy. Delicious. Bourbon is well under control. Very good. vyvvy (6953) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - NOV 26, 2017
It pours deep black with almost no head. The aroma has soy sauce, rich malt, chocolate and super rich. It has a smooth rich body with light gentle carbonation. The taste has cinnamon, chocolate, rich smooth malt, molasses and I've cream style malt. Quite wonderful. alexsdad06 (11393) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - JUN 11, 2017
Draft at Jackie o’s shared by a kind soul at the Appervation release. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small khaki colored head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, chocolate, cinnamon, bourbon, vanilla, molasses, dark fruits, thick, viscous mouthfeel, excellent. I would like to try the other blends at some point. Poured as part of a "Derivation flight" with blends 1-7 including Double Barrel (sans blend 5). Thick black pour, faint carbonation. Nose is softer with less vanilla than blend 2, but with more interesting spices (cinnamon?) going on, and of course the toasted marshmallow and big barrel/dark cake notes. I feel like there was a bit more malt balance here too. Mouth is quite sweet like the others, but was less heavy with all these dancing cinnamon/spice notes. Some vanilla and coconut too, maybe. For me it was easily the best of the Derivation series.

Tap at Sovereign for CBC 2017 into a wineglass showing pitch black with no head and barely any carbonation.
The nose shows strong notes of chocolate, figs, molasses, and an altogether vinous quality. Reminiscent of Dark Lord.
The palate is full bodied, slick, and oily with no carbonation due to the high ABV. Milk chocolate forward with light maple syrup, cinnamon on the mid-palate with more dry molasses on the finish. Despite the high ABV, there is practically no alcoholic heat. fonefan (53055) - VestJylland, DENMARK - APR 3, 2017

Bottle 750ml. shared at [ A Day To Sink All Sea Shepards tasting. ], Brussels, Belgium.
[ As Side Project Derivation Blend #6 ].
Clear dark black color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, sweet chocolate, coconut, spicy, cinnamon, alcohol - bourbon - vanilla. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, spicy, cinnamon, chocolate, roasted, alcohol, vanilla, vanilla - cacao - vanilla beans - chocolate. Body is medium to full, texture is oily - creamy, carbonation is soft, light alcoholic.
Very dark, homogeneous color. The aroma volume is lush, with scents of coffee and dark roasted chocolate that dominate, small hints of wood spice, berry fruit, vanilla, green pepper. Very little alcohol. The feel is thick and creamy, a definite positive. This was a tasting event beer and we tried several world class beer in a very long flight and this was my standout favorite. Excellent. kermis (15161) - The Hague / Amsterdam / Zaandam, NETHERLANDS - SEP 27, 2016

Flavour is heavy sweet and moderate bitter. Full bodied with a thick texture and soft carbonation. Definitely getting some Huna/Abraxis vibes from this one.
