COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The most powerful of the Incas, Pachacutec is known for the expansion of the Inca Empire to an unprecedented size and magnitude. We made this beer in memory of our ninth Inca - strong, bold, and sophisticated. The strongest beer in Peru.

330 ml bottle Pours a hazy, deep copper with some sediment and a smallish light amber head. Caramel and citrus aromas. Full mouth-feel, first sweet malts followed by some bitterness. Some bitterness remains in the finish. Warming alcohol as it goes down. Not the most balanced beer, but easily one of, if not the best beer in Peru.

Bottle in Seattle. Purchased in Lima. Lingering off white foam. Dark hazy amber. Moldy bread nose, a little off and mealy. Malty rich sip with a strong fruity alcohol flavor. Strong bitterness. Pretty tasty all told. I feel it might be a little out of shape hops wise, but this is still pretty good.

Aroma: Medium caramel, medium-light molasses. Appearance: Hazy, copper body. Medium-small head. Off-white head. Flavour: Medium-high molasses, bitterness. Medium fruitiness. Dry finish with lingering molasses and bitterness. Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Medium carbonation. Overall: A rich, smooth experience. Very flavorful sipping beer. But it misses the hoppiness (flavour & aroma) that I associate with an American Strong Ales. 330 ml bottle, poured, shared. Thanks ChewyBeer! 22B. American Strong Ale

Poured from a bottle at Chaqchao. Murky orange color with a strong malty nose. Definitely a big beer. Taste is nicely balanced by a strong hop profile. A lot of heat from the 10.5 percent. Really nice beer.

12oz bottle I picked up in Lima pours a dark, muddy orange with some lacing, white head. Nose is heavy on the malt and orange peel, pine too, some raisin, potpourri. Flavor is sticky with chestnut honey, some brown sugar, malt, toffee, bitter orange peel, herbs, sticky spruce. Full bodied, bitter and even astringent on the finish.

Sierra Andina Pachacutec Imperial Ale 10.5% I got this beer from my buddy Beercation. Brewed in honor of an Inca Emperor, it is the strongest beer from Peru and Ratebeer classes it as an American Strong Beer. I'm kind of surprised it's from Huaraz a mountain town from which I went hiking and mountain biking in the Andes a decade ago. An odd brown color, it has a dense beige head that reminds me of a root beer. Malty sweet plum and cocoa powder aroma. It has velvety mouthfeel but a somewhat thin finish with some boozy heat. The taste is sweet, plum, raisins, a sharp almost burnt hardtack and cocoa nibs. It paired well with chocolate ice cream. It's not a truly complex beer but is definitely better than I expected Peru was currently brewing. Thanks for the hook up! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
