3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from the 12 pack Beer Camp from Total Wine in Boca Raton. Snifter in my dining room. Pours a light gold with a very slight haze. Small white fluffy head. Aroma is cereal, Belgian yeasts, slight spice, banana, cloves. Teh taste is similar with a slight dry funkiness and hoppiness that is not as characteristic of a Belgian blonde. Nice carbonation and refreshing body. FInish is dry spices and hoppy. Very nice job.
A hazed blonde ale with a thick frothy lacing white head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with light banana esters, candy sugar, light cloves, pleasant. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity malt with light banana esters, light cloves, light chalky notes, faint oxidation, not bad but past its prime. MrOrla (3498) - Odense C, DENMARK - MAY 20, 2017
Tap. Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of tobacco, licorice, fruity, malty sweet, spice. Taste is heavy licorice, fruity, light bitter. GarrettB (1635) - San Diego, California, USA - AUG 6, 2016
August 4th, 2014 - I return from the canned Beer Camp back to the bottles, for the bright, banana colored Yvan the Great. That chipper, bright color might be an artifact of the lighting, but it is bright and cheerful, and a hue of color that humans seem to abandon after adolescence. The aroma, oddly, also has a lot of banana scents in it, but is made a little more serious by a puff of wheat. The bottle claims this is a Belgian style blonde, but the aroma has much in common with a Hefeweizen, down to a touch of butter and light pear notes, likely lent by the Belgian yeast. The palate is sudsy, soft and light, and ends long, low and dry. Touches of white grape juice and herbal touches (sage or tarragon in this garden) lace the whole flavor all the way to the back of the aftertaste, delivering a nice, dry taste in contrast to a fruitier aroma. juiceisloose (1526) - Windermere, Florida, USA - JAN 18, 2016
12 oz bottle from the Beer Camp series. Pours a hazy golden color and topped by a thick head of off white foam that slowly settles to a thin film and leaves patches of lace on the glass. The aroma shows notes of toasted bread, pale grains, crisp wheat, some bright citrus, and some grassy and floral hop bitterness. The flavor follows with the toasted bread, crisp grains, cereal malts, pepper spice, citrus fruit, and grassy hop bitterness on the back end. Medium bodied and smooth with balanced carbonation that leads to a crisp, clean, and bitter finish. Solid Belgian style ale. kevinator (2577) - The Colony, Texas, USA - JAN 7, 2016
This was really good. Strong citrus, hoppy and yeast aromas. Light yellow color with a big foamy head. Like merengue. Light weight but full in the mouth. A mix of golden ale and witbier with a definite hoppy twist. Citrus and spice with a Belgian finish.

Crisp, very hazy golden coloured body with a ridiculously large light yellow/tan head and some straw coloured glow on the body. Aroma of fresh yeast, coriander seed, curacao, honey, grain, lemons and a lot of herbs - very nice and fragrant. Medium-bodied; Assertive herbal spiciness up front with a big yeast and coriander seed kick and a good deal of honey and floral notes on the finish. Aftertaste shows a touch of hops with some light grain and a little yeast, but mostly dry and herbaceous with no sweetness at all. Overall, a good and dry saison with a nice robust kick and a peppery finish at the end - good to sample and this should really be re-categorised to a saison. I sampled this stubby twelve ounce bottle purchased from Harris Teeter in Arlington (Pentagon Row), Virginia on 30-July-2014 for US$22,00 for the twelve pack, sampled at home in Washington on 29-September-2015.
