"This is a pretty nice belgian ale, a little less dry than it’s bottled Oliva counterparts. Pretty fruity and spicy, may be oak aged (seems so) but it’s hard to say..." maniac (3800) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - JAN 1, 2014

On tap. Black with a thin white fizzy head. Sweet earthy malt and bitter chocolate aroma and taste with a moderate bitterness and roasted grain and caramel notes. Silky medium bodied palate. j12601 (13033) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - JUL 24, 2012
Somehow didn’t upload a rating for this, but I had notes in my own personal database. Weird because I uploaded ratings for SN’s Agave Charlie which I had right before it, and Dark Horse Whiskey Richard, which I had immediately after.

Pouring at the Night of the Barrels at EBF (2011). Pours a clearish brown with a thin beige head. Sweet wood and vanilla on the nose. Lots of malt, wood and bourbon. Long wood notes with some sweetness and a touch of tang.
Draft at Stone Oakquinox 2012. Mostly clear brown slightly reddish pour, small light tan head. Caramel, dark fruit, oak, a bit boozy, sweet brown sugars, and a touch of bourbon. Decent, a little too sweet for my taste though. brokensail (16633) - Dublin, California, USA - APR 26, 2012
Pours a dark amber/light brown color with a khaki head. Strong vanilla notes right off the bat. There’s definite some whiskey character along with a decent fruitiness, too. Plenty of brown sugar, toffee, and bread as well. The flavor has strong vanilla and wood flavors and plenty of malt sweetness. Heavy on the toffee and toasted bread with a light fruit character. Sweet and malty and enjoyable. arminjewell (9720) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - APR 10, 2012
Pour on tap, Avery Strong Ale fest 2012. Murky reddish brown pour with thin off white head, aroma brought notes of thick dark fruits, toffee and caramel, some slight earthy tones went right into the brandy part, some more sweet biscuit and bready notes as well. Taste was a bit more balanced with sweet dark fruits and toffees going into the vanilla and oak of the brandy, hints of earth and grass but fairly sweet beer. onceblind (10322) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAR 13, 2012
