Tap at the Rubicon. Pours clear light copper with a slight creamy beige head. Mixed citrus/resin aroma. Near full bodied. There’s some earthy roast malt, but it’s pretty much overwhelmed by hop. Flavor is citrus/earthy resin. Dry. Not harsh, but very strongly flavored. Hop all over, but not in a humongous NW way. Excellent drink.
16 ounce sample on tap at Rubicon in Sacramento. The aroma has a lot of citrus notes with lemon and orange primarily. Some sweet, sugary floral character is also present. Quite aromatic and pleasant. Transparent dark golden body with a small, weak off-white head. Starts metallic, lightly herbal, but mostly metallic. The middle and malt profile is basically non-existent. Light biscuit character, with more metallic later on. Tastes like a bland single-hop beer meant to showcase whatever hop is present. Not a memorable beer.
Tasted more like a British IPA and very similar to the Big Day IPA that was also on tap at the Surly Goat. Aside from that it had a vegetal hop aroma and a good solid showing of malt. The hops provided only a light bittering.
