My Bottom Line:fonini (37) - porto alegre, BRAZIL - AUG 19, 2015
Conifer needles grow through vanilla and candied fruit in this woodsy Barrel-Aged Barley Wine.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam stays atop the misty dark red.
-Alcohol warmth is perceptible throughout.
-Resinous hop bitterness fits with the barrel character.
-Flavor profile is intense yet all components are well balanced.
-The texture is lush and warming. A refined mouthfeel.

750 ml bottle. 2013 vintage, been holding this for a special occasion, today is my 5th anniversary on Ratebeer.com so I think it’s time to crack this. I prefer my Barley Wines slightly oxidized, so I ready for this. Almost no head on a deep clear ruby color. Aroma is subtle in every aspect, dark fruit, deeper malt and whiskey. kkleu357 (634) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 18, 2015
Flavor has raisin, figs, light sugar with just a very slight oxidation note through the middle. The finish has the subtle whiskey barrel with lingering oak. The alcohol can’t be found but the warming sensation after the sip is here and gives a slow burn on the way down. The body seems to have thinned out or was never very full to begin with. Oily slick texture across the tongue. After drinking a whole snifter the oxidation notes started to wear on my palate. Should have opened this 9 or maybe 10 months ago. Still all in all a very nice Barley wine.
Did a vertical tasting. Started with a 2014 Bigfoot, then 2015 Bigfoot, then finished with this 2015 BA Bigfoot. Quite honestly, they basically all taste the same. Not really getting much more from the BA version, except I paid a lot more. Pretty much a sweet but very hoppy IPA that happens to have some oak and whiskey taste. solidfunk (9025) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - AUG 18, 2015
I remember the regular Big Foot tasting a little better. This one has big caramel, booze, some citrus. Well barrelled. Brown pour, some head. Bottle from Dupont Circle store.

On tap at The Tap Room in Minot -- I was extremely surprised to see this on tap, so of course I ordered one ... well, two. Nose is definitely whisky and the flavor is definitely a bright-ish BW with some bitterness and young BW flavors. The whisky and barrel are present throughout. A very nice beer. I’m going to have to go back for more soon. Nickls (2541) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - JUL 25, 2015
Bottle. Murky dark copper brown. Sweet toffee, dark fruits, some wood and slight sherry notes in the aroma. Barrel shows up more in the flavor, woody, sherry, dark fruit, vanilla and bourbon on the back end. Medium
To thicker and slick body.
