(Bottle 750ml $15 from Costco). Ruby color with 2 finger creamy off white head. Aroma is mostly sweet whisky. Taste is whiskey with quite a noticeable alcohol burn. I usually like that, but this seems either too much or something. Then in the end there was some bitterness, but it had a metallic taste. Not a fan of this beer. minutemat (5471) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - JUL 8, 2015
75cl bottle @ Shrewsbury Beer Share, June 15, brought back from the US of A by Jeremy. Many thanks. Pours dark amber with off-white head. Taste brings forth a pine needles smoothie with a huge Kentucky bourbon influence. Oaky with sharp alcohol notes. Although I’m not massively into whisky this was still a complex and captivating beer that I doubt I’ll see again. chinchill (4993) - South Carolina, USA - JUL 7, 2015
UPDATED: NOV 19, 2015 On tap at the brewery taproom in NC.
Beautiful clear copies colored body is topped by a surprisingly durable head.
This has a bit more input from the barrel aging than I prefer. The barleywine base is not completely masked but is dominated.
Feel: Too much heat in the feel; this would certainly benefit from some aging. raphael (1254) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 5, 2015
Review #1000--had this in the basement 5 months.
alcohol, grapes, toffee, resin are the aromas.cake with chocolate buttercream is my first taste—chocolate, butterfat, sugar (rounding out to caramel, a bitterness that isn’t citrus or resin but is partially alcohol, oak and a hint of vanilla. Clear red brown with smooth tan head. The mouth is happy to have this beer inside, however briefly. Balanced, diverse and mighty.

Thanks to tderoeck! 655 ml. bottle sampled @ “Hot & Sweaty RBBSG 2015”. Deep amber, light red hue (that might be also just the lightning),… Thick oily caramel, sweet cooked apples, vanilla & bourbon nose,… Taste is smidge thin with sweet vanilla, caramel, cooked & caramelized apple, sugar, sweet candy,… Creamy, faintly metallic body,… Very yummy, could be even better but already very yummy beer.

Sampled from bottle @ RBBSG 2015. Clear red color, small off-white head. Smell and taste malts, sweetish, firm bitter, a hint of dark fruits and quite heavy on the alcohol. Medium body, suitable and quite suitable carbonation. ElManana (2079) - Scheldewindeke, BELGIUM - JUL 4, 2015
Bottle at RBBSG, thanks for sharing Tderoeck. Bourbon, boozy, vanilla, oak, hops, nice but maybe a tad too much. ilovedarkbeer (2741) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - JUN 30, 2015
Pours a deep copper color with a foamy off white head. Notes of vanilla, whiskey, dark brown sugar, figs, and smoke. Not much of the original bigfoot character remains. jkwalking05 (4735) - Arlington, Texas, USA - JUN 28, 2015
750 mL bottle. Deep Amber with a decent beige head. Aroma is of booze, piney hops, brown sugar, whiskey, oak, and vanilla. Taste is of whiskey, booze, oak, malt, pine, herbal hops. travita (5003) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JUN 28, 2015
Bottle. The look is reddish, beige head, with a clear look. The smell is whiskey, wood, alcohol, brown sugar, fruitcake, rich, and interesting. The taste is fruity, alcohol, sugar, wood, burnt, and good.
