Bottle, dark, slightly cloudy amber, nice creM colored head, some lace. Aroma raisin and dried plums, malt, something spicy, vanilla. Taste is malt, whiskey, oak, vanilla, dried cherries, hint of anise, with a sprucy hops finish. Palate is rich and smooth, carbonation moderate. Pours cloudy dark amber almost like it's unfiltered. Hints of banana on the nose. Full bodied flavor with the woody-ness of the oak barrels. Only downside is the aftertaste that is the same as all Sierra Nevada brews...grapefruit. Still...loved it.

Nose is intense - toasty, charred, coconuty oak notes, rich treacle, biscuity malts, rum, resiny cedary/pine, cooked citrusy hops. 8
Full body, not as rich as expected, long on the palate, low carbonation. 4
Intensity ramps up on the palate - very woody; charred oak, dark rum, dank piney American hops, treacle, vanilla, toasted coconut, dried fruits. Stacked with bitterness, plenty of length, warming without being spirity. 8
Big brash Barley Wine - very American, very good. 16 4.0

Catching up on older ratings from notes. 750 ml bottle shared on May 5, 2015 by my buddy Shem. Pours a lovely garnet-brown color with a thin layer of tan foam. AROMA of thick toffee and caramel, light bourbon notes, coconut, and vanilla. FLAVOR has significant bourbon notes (vanilla, coconut), brown sugar, sticky dried dates, and still a little bit of hop twang actually. Somewhat sweet but still not quite cloying. Pours out a decent darker amber color with a small white head. Aroma is of burnt sugar, caramel, oak, mild dried fruit, some vanilla, light alcohol.
