Enjoyed at the Brick Store. Big black pout with little head. The aroma is very rich with dark malts’ molasses and an odd sweetness that was hard to place. Flavor was pretty rich as well and the additions birch and maple were certainly apparent. It gave it a molasses like flavor but different...perhaps licorice or Annie. Pretty good and full bodied. Not exactally worth 35 bucks though. GODiSSOUTHERN (390) - Virginia, USA - JAN 8, 2012
All the same qualities described in the regular life and limb with the addition of strong coconut and vanilla overtones. Very smooth and complimentary to the dark syrupy flavors of the original. TheJestersBeer (2430) - SWEDEN - OCT 30, 2011
Dark mahogany, thin head.
Off-dry, full bodied, high bitterness, low CO2.
Malty, hoppy taste, wood, licorice, spice, figs, apricots. (2011-10-01) grungejesus (51) - SWEDEN - OCT 8, 2011
alcohol, roasty, coffee, minimal head, black, medium sweetness, soft carbonation, full body, sethbreaker (180) - New York, Greater London, USA - SEP 5, 2011
Great aroma of rich dried fruits and caramelised suger. Very dark in appearance, perfect mouthfeel, Long lasting creamy head. Unique sweetness with complex flavours and subtle hop finish. Alcohol is not as apparent as you would think for 10.2%. Really enjoyed this one and it can only get better with age. This will taste truly amazing if left for a few years

Tap, CK. Dark khaki head; nearly black but mostly mahogany. Nice bourbon aromas but with dark fruit malty sweetness. Licorice, caramel, bit of woodiness, some savory characteristics followed by a slightly sweet-sour notes in the end. Thicker, viscous body. Pretty nice. keepersj12 (3137) - Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA - AUG 27, 2011
What a great aroma, fruit and vanilla. A lot of wine, some alcohol, prunes, caramel. The pour is very dark like molasses with a tan head. The flavor has all of the same elements along with a bit of smoke. It is full bodied with a very long lasting after taste that is quite nice. Better than the original. Wonderful toffee and vanilla start with some licorice root. The maple and birch go hand in hand and give the flavor a sweet but not overly sweet flavor. Lightly robust or toast with a mixture of chocolate and light roasted coffee. The hops provide a light pine and flower flavor. Lots going on and balanced quite well. mrmartin (780) - New York, New York, USA - JUL 23, 2011
Dark brown pour. Nose of vanilla + sweet malts.Roasty, a little vanilla, a little maple and a little boozy. Medium body Smooth mouth feel.with a Bittersweet finish. pushkinwow (2888) - Ottawa, CANADA - JUL 13, 2011
On tap at City Beer in SF. Dark brown almost no head. Vanilla, oak, bourbon, sweet (assume the maple syrup), some burnt or caramelized malts. Good carbonation (mild), medium bodied, sweet from the vanilla, nice finish - emphasis on the bourbon and some booze/bite. Very good but could do with a bit of age.
