750 ml bottle from the Sierra Nevada gift shop. Sweet maple, dark roasted malt and whiskey aromas. Nearly opaque black with a thin ring of tan foam. Amazing bourbon flavor and sweetness jumps out immediately followed by thick roasted stout. Maple and molasses sweetness build in the back. Coffee and prune flavors follow. Outrageously well balanced at 13.4% which is so strong and yet so hidden. Excellent special release from Sierra Nevada. brokensail (16689) - Dublin, California, USA - FEB 4, 2016
Bottle @ Home. Extremely dark brown, nearly black with tan foam. There’s sort of a toffee, vanilla, maple syrup, and brown sugar quality right away. Light roasted malts and oak follow behind that. Certainly coffee, though not in your face like many coffee beers. Taste is mostly bittersweet chocolate with some sweetness of toffee and maple coming through. Moderate coffee and barrel. Pretty nice. Bacterial (3074) - Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA - OCT 30, 2015
Small pour shared at Darkness Day 2015. More coffee in the nose than maple. Dark black pour, but not super thick (like Darkness). Nice. deyholla (12582) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - OCT 23, 2015
Bottle, thanks for sharing. Pours black with a dark brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has dark grains and maple with a decent amount of bourbon and a bit of roasted malts supporting. Flavor combines bourbon and maple with a bit of dark grains and roast supporting. BVery (11458) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - OCT 23, 2015
Bomber. Very dark pour. Maple and chocolate. Some bourbon and wood. Damn, this is really good!

Bottle. Thick, syrupy burnt brown; very little head. Aroma’s rich: maple, butterscotch, toffee, milk chocolate, coconut, vanilla. Flavor replicates this, a smooth and not-too-sweet blend. Thick, creamy body; prickly CO2. Very rich, flavorful brew, and I love maple, so. DYCSoccer17 (3714) - Woodland, California, USA - MAR 20, 2015
750mL bottle purchased at the brewery in Chico. The aroma on this is fairly decadent with vanilla, sweet bourbon, and woody notes. I also get a little smokiness, too. Some ethanol is present retronasally. Inky, opaque black body with a medium somewhat rapidly dissipating brown head. This starts with a bit of a strange licorice flavor. Somewhat sweet and astringent. Bourbon hints in the middle. Finishes with a bit of a hot, ethanolic flavor. This is just a mess of a beer. Too boozy, too sweet, too meh. b3shine (9253) - Indiana, USA - JAN 17, 2015
750 ml bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs; thanks LitoIPA). Looks good; a fairly opaque very dark cola with foamy beige head. Smells good too; dark malt, chocolate, oak, and mild notes of coffee and bourbon, all nicely balanced. Tastes like it smells with a nice, smooth for the abv with a medium to medium full-bodied mouthfeel. Great beer. daknole (11048) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - JAN 14, 2015
Nearly black with a big brown head. Awesome!!! Bourbon galore! God coffee notes, maple, light smoke. Big, chewy and delicious. Theydon_Bois (21418) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - JAN 11, 2015
Bottle split at LKS ’Beers of London’ Tasting, high up, 10/12/14.
Extremely dark mahogany brown with moderately appointed khaki spotting and edgework.
Nose is maple syrup, toffee, chocolate, boozey notes.
Taste comprises sweet licks, nutty, toffee fudge, chocolate, maple syrup cookies, coffee grinds.
Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close.
Decent enough impy, the alcohol is very well disguised for a straight 13%!
