Bottle. Sick label. I’d love a hoodie with that monk on it--someone else suggested that, but I agree. Never go wrong with a hoodie--unless you live in Ecuador! Anyway. Poured into my newly acquired Westy 12 glass. Thanks Dave! I owe you beer! Pours dark mahogany with a small fast fading off white head. Nose is typical of the style--dark fruits, some raisin, plum, vanilla, light pepper. Flavor is similar--estery, caramel, dark fruits. Not much booze, but not a lot of complexity either. Just sorta there. I feel like they should have aged this in the same wine barrels used for the Dubbel. Those barrels are magic and did wonders on the dubs.
Tap at Kickbacks during RBWG. Pours dark copper with small beige head. The aroma is fruity malt and toffee. Medium mouth with dark fruit and candy sugar, hides alcohol well, very good dnstone (3579) - Kansas City, Missouri, USA - FEB 13, 2015

Murky dark mahogany brown with a moderate beige covering and edgeing.
Nose is brandy snap biscuits, plummy depths, dark fruit rinds, apple orchard, woody, spice, tobacco.
Taste comprises spice, dark fruit rinds, light booze, dates, more nico-tine twinges, toffee, spice, light BA effect.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with light warming booze.
Decent quad, plenty of depth and shit going down, not too sweet, good balance.
"Love the base, love the bourbon version (though the bourbon overshadowed the beer a bit) and realy liked this one. It was nearly as complex as the bottled quad, moreso than the bourbon barreled. Much more fruitiness in both aroma and flavor than expexted. The spice and the dark fruity swetness play well with each other. Not hot at all for a double digit beer." mnoud (318) - Martinsburg, West Virginia, USA - AUG 22, 2014

Aroma - I can smell the normal Quad in there, much raisin, boozy notes. 7/10
Appearance: pours deep, deep chestnut-y brown. Still has a decent off white head that forms into a ring and some floaters. Mostly opaque. 4/5
Taste: You can still get that syrupy sweet toffee flavor of the quad but it is a hint of the base beer and is quickly subsumed by boozy vanilla flavor from the brandy. Agreed slightly lighter body than base beer. Light carbonation. Oak at the finish. Could easily be a bit too astringent or medicine-y, but as is it is a nice balance. 9/10
Palate: medium body, a bit lighter than base quad. Light carbonation. Long-ish finish, a bit astringent. 3/5
Overall: I’m a big fan of Quad with plums and regular Quad so there’s little chance I wouldn’t like this. It’s definitely a nice variant. I wouldn’t want this exclusively instead of regular Quad but it’s certainly enjoyable. 17/20

Flavor is heavy dark fruit sweetness, booze, chewy malts, light hop bitterness, and dry oak finish. Medium/full body and light carbonation. sudomorph (1192) - Barrie, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 29, 2014
Bottle shared. Pours a clear caramel with an off white. Aroma has big sweet, smooth notes of dark fruit, booze. Taste is sweeter than the base beer but still not cloying. Slightly tart with dark fruits, caramel, and soft alcohol booze. Really nice. Medium body and carbonation. Silky smooth texture and carbonation. Slightly thinner than the base beer. Overall a very nice beer. Dark fruits, soft booze, and a touch of tartness. Really nice. rmussman (1701) - California, USA - MAY 8, 2014
