Draft at DTJBs. Bright orange with thick white head. Nose is subtle with tones of nuttiness and grains. Flavor is malty sweet with tinges of melanoidins and pecan/almonds, finishes slightly sweet. Medium body and smooth texture, medium carbonation. A nice malty, nutty brown ale with good depth and complexity. Dickinsonbeer (5074) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - DEC 3, 2010
Tap at RNH. Pours a clear copper ok thin head. Aroma is mostly straight forward- toasty nutty light vienna malts, slight biscuit, earth and herbal hops. Flavor is light mineral, mostly nutty doughy fresh malts, a bit on the thin side, only slight hints of almond or marzipan- but I may not have picked that up if I hadnt been influenced by the name. Crisp and clean in the end- nice. BückDich (5464) - McCall, Idaho, USA - SEP 9, 2010
Draft @ Bittercreek, Boise: Pours a dark amber color with a light white head. The nose is toasty with some nutty qualities and a deep malty body and lightly hopped nose. The flavor is clean and creamy with a smooth malty mouthfeel, average body and the toastiness on the malts is a little more accentuated than most malty fall lagers. Good job local dudes. Tap at Rattle n Hum. Pours a clear gold color. Nose is malty. So somewhat typical marzen wouldn’t have picked out the almond flavor but i do tasted it. A bit sweet, with some bitterness in the finish.

Deep gold pour with a small head. Aroma of toasted nuts, marzen, sweet caramel and light spice. Flavor is dominated by almond extract. Good, but I was hoping for something more.

On tap from notes, Sierra @ Sierra. Really excited about this one considering who helped make it. Pours out a very nice copper/orange hue, great retention, looks like a marzen to me. The nuts is what I was hoping to detect, but didn’t get too much in the nose, some slightly sweet caramel notes. Palate is super clean, maybe the almonds gave the outside edge a smooth/creamier texture, but still left a crisp clean finish. Really fun seasonal, it would have been fun in a beer camp seasonal pack. bb (9241) - Alamo, California, USA - JUL 19, 2010
Draft. Amber beer with a cream colored head. Sweet malt aroma. Sweet malt and light mineral flavor. Medium bodied. Sweet malt and light earthiness lingers. zdk (1917) - New York, New York, USA - NOV 30, 2010
tap @ RnH - I probably would’nt have gotten almond from this if I hadn’t been primed by the name. In any case: clear, nut brown pour, grassy toffee-marzipan candy and light grassy notes. Maybe a hint of almond nuttiness in the arouma. Grainy bread and smooth bodied. Maverick34 (3206) - New York, USA - DEC 3, 2010
Draught from Rattle & Hum. Poured an oragish brown with mild head. SOme almond aroma and such, some piney hops. Rciesla (5499) - Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA - DEC 10, 2010
Draft. Pours an amber body with an off white head. Nutty dry and light malt tones. Very neutral. A modest bitter note, just a nice clean drinkin brew.
