On tap. Pours with a very deep brown body with an off-white head. Aromas are lightly vegital, some light DMS, earthy, grainy, lightly spicy hops, brown sugar. Flavors are malty, bready and grainy. Slightly nutty character but no real roast. Spicy hop presence, clean yeast wise. Medium bubbles, dry and somewhat crisp finish.

Dark black/brown, thin tan head. Aroma of light pine and roast with orange citrus. Taste is very well balanced between the roast, hop and sweetness. One of the better black ipa’s, or pils, or whatever the hell they want to call them, I have had since the roast is not the dominant flavor.

On tap at Rhinoceros, Missoula. Pours dark brown with a decent beige head and a treacle aroma. There is a robust carbonated dark malt flavor with a bit of raisin and a dry finish. This is an interesting style that was brewed at SN Beer Camp.

Draft @ small bar. Black pour, lacy off-white head. Hoppy nose with a touch of black roast. Black ipa flavors of crisp hops...can’t even taste the lager yeast here...its pure black ipa but with a light crisp pilsner body...but yet its full of flavor nonetheless. Black ipa flavors aren’t my thing, but I’m enjoying it here, maybe its the light crisp pilsner nature of the beer.

On tap during Denver Summer Brew Fest 2011. Dark ruby brown, light khaki head. Weird smells of grassy hops, a tinge of stomach bile, and some black malts. Taste was big on black metallic malts, more bitterness than necessary, and some flavor that wasn’t quite right, can’t put my finger on it.

On tap ar Hamiltons. Black with a fizzy off white head. Skunk hops and roasted grain aroma. Dry bitter hoppy taste with a roasted grain finish.
