Sierra Nevada Beer Camp Imperial Pilsner

RATINGS: 313   WEIGHTED AVG: 3.45/5   SEASONAL: Series   IBU: 38   EST. CALORIES: 168   ABV: 5.6%
Produced especially for the OBF, Beer Camps golden color and medium bodied sweetness comes from pale, Europils, Munich and acidulated malts. Magnum, Crystal and Pacifica hops provide a distinctly American bittering and hop flavor profile without going over the top. The result is a refreshing, balanced, crisp pilsner, easy to drink on a hot summer festival day - or to take with you to beer camp.

Tap. Pours clear golden light amber with a very small diminishing white head that leaves little lacing. Aroma is grain, bread and grass. Flavor is same, very light sweetness and a light bitter finish. Meh.

Draft. Poured a clear copper color with an average frothy white head that was lasting and produced excellent lacing. Good moderate to heavy complex hop and malt aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth dry slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy bittersweet flavor with with a moderate to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid beer and one of the best of style I have had.

Pours a slightly cloudy, pale golden yellow color with a two finger, frothy white head that slowly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Streaks of soapy lacing left behind. Earthy, floral hop aroma with resinous pine notes followed by light fruit and a pale malt backbone. Slightly spicy hop presence with straw and straw as well as some apple, bread and biscuit. Medium bodied with a spicy hop bite up front thats countered by light fruit sweetness, bready yeast and pale malts. Sweeter than expected with a slight metallic presence and a surprising boozy flavor. Some earthy bitterness but its cut mid palate by sweet fruit, biscuit, pilsnef malt and alcohol. Starts off okay but theres a really unpleasant flavor lingering in the finish that I cant quite put my finger on.

Malt pilsner aroma with some hops. Clear yellow pour with a fluffy white head. Not much lacing left on the glass. Smooth pilsner, with some hop flavor and a light sweet malt taste on the palate. Sessionable beer with not much detection in alcohol. A very nice take on the pilsner...I would highly recommend to others if seeking this style.

Pours a clear bright golden color with a substantial white head to top it off. Sweet flowery aroma. Clean crisp taste of sweet pale malt and a butteriness which balances really well with the mild hop bitterness and essence of grapefruit. A damned good pilsener all around!
