COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our aggressive Imperial Red Ale is a massive mix of smooth malts and West Coast hops that have no patience for the lupulin leery. This crimson beer starts with caramel-like malt flavor that can’t suppress the assertive, citrusy hop finale.

This poured a murky red with a beige head. Aroma was caramel, toast, and earthy hops. Flavor was similar, basically an overmalted impy ipa.

Bottle... Poured brownish, mostly dark burgundy red with a moderate egg-shell head. Malty nose with a hint of hazelnuts. Big toasted malts here with lots of sweetness. Still some bitterness from green, floral hops to mix it up. Some alcohol warmth, but not overly boozy. Full, thick mouthfeel, a little sticky on the palate and slight bit of acid. Some dark fruit esters but ultimately the malt out weighted everything else here.

3.5
Pailhead (6543) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - AUG 29, 2013
Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate caramel, fruit, sweet citrus, light grapefruit, and dusty yeast notes. It pours a transparent dark oranish-brown with a two finger beige head that leaves behind a good amount of sticky webbing. The flavor starts with fruit, caramel, and a touch of cola. The finish has light-moderate citrus and grapefruit. It’s medium bodied with light-moderate carbonation and a somewhat soft mouthfeel. Overall, It’s comes across like a fruity American Barley Wine.

Bottle from Moe’s. Bright garnet red with lasting head and lace. Fresh woody piney hop aroma with a little caramel. Malty toasted mildly roasted caramel with some fruity notes and assertive woody piney and grapefruit rind lingering bitter finish. Lively fine carbo enhances the hop finish. Very good.
