Bottle from Systembolaget. Pours deep red with an off-white small-bubble head. Aroma holds caramel, red frutis, raisin, citrus. Taste is malty toffee sweet, the bitterness coming through in the end leaving a lingering grassy dry bitterness. Medium body and average caronation. demitriustown (1192) - Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA - JUL 28, 2013
12 oz bottle: Aroma is big on hops and lightly fruity. Appearance is a clear amber/red with a thick off white head that lingers. Taste has hops a little bit of malts, light coffee notes, and grapefruit. Palate is medium to high carbonation with an aftertaste of pungent hops. Overall, I liked this one. Cheers! b3shine (8873) - Indiana, USA - JUL 28, 2013
Bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs.). Bottle says it’s Beer Camp #95. Looks good; a hazy dark amber with light beige lacing. Smells of big caramel malt with a fairly bitter hop profile and a bit of soapiness, but not unpleasantly so. Tastes like it smells with a solid mouthfeel. Enjoyable. dark amber pour with a thick tan head.
aroma is fruity, citrusy, some toasted maltiness.
flavour is citrusy hop, caramel/toffee, light nuttiness to the malt. strong bitter finish. Nuffield (4171) - Roseville, Minnesota, USA - AUG 13, 2013
I like that this is classified as an American Strong Ale. Yet, the red ale quality is really obvious, from the color (of course) to the balance of flavors. Good malt backbone on a very hoppy beer. Well done at all levels to brew a strong red ale that elevates a boring style. Bottle. And a good label too.

Draft. Pours a clear deep reddish amber, with an off white/light biege head. Citrusy hops, caramel, clean malty backbone, and finishes quite bitter. Not exceptional, but decent for the style. nimbleprop (8382) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - AUG 18, 2013
4oz sample at Max’s Hop Fest 2013. Pours a hazy, rusty red with some very creamy, white head. Nose if apple, nuts, caramel, orange, a little pithy. Flavors of brown sugar, malt, caramel, orange, apple, a little kumquat, rusty metal. Dry, spicy, bitter finish. roxtersoxter (358) - McKinney, Texas, USA - AUG 22, 2013
Pours dark amber with large tan head out of bottle. Hop aroma with hint of grapefruit. Hoppy taste with finish of grain. Surprisingly great beer!

Overall: I liked this beer, but I remember last year’s camp pack imp red ale was much more one sided hoppy. This version is certainly more American Strong than red as the malt component is fierce with the assertive piney hoppiness still. Booze is prevelant, caramel malts, fruity. Super clean palate with medium thickness. rocbyter (2124) - Waterbury, Connecticut, USA - AUG 23, 2013
Moderate resin hop aroma with a light amount of malt. Hazy red color with a medium off white head. Starts with a mild bitter flavor that becomes very string in the finish.
