ODraft @ blind lady. Poursa deep mohagany, nice tan head. Walnut nose, crisp, malty, nutty flavors, a little acid around the edges..a little bit of fun nut skin astringency..nice, easy drinking, super clean...I’m stil sleeping having just got out of bed and drove 90mph to blind lady...but this is a great relaxing wake up beer...nice crisp hoppiness in the finish..is that some simcoe? This is seriously the best lager I have ever had. Maybe...I’m still not awake. On my second pour and just realized that the homebrewer that brewed this beer with sierra nevada is the guy that helped me through mt first all grain ipa on his equipment when he lived with one of my friends...he still may live there for all I know...he helped me brew an awesome all simcoe ipa...now I’m drinking his awesome scotch lager brewed with sierra nevada...small world. Awesome fucking beer! playitbybeer (118) - San Diego, California, USA - FEB 19, 2011

Served on tap at BLAH. The appearance is a deep amber hue with a small off white head. The aromas are malty with caramel leading the way. The flavors are malty with caramel leading the way again with a medium roast touch and some wood notes. There is an alcohol flavor edge is in there as well. The mouth is more medium bodied. A solid scotch ale but could use a little more flavor intensity. marcus (10349) - Sacramento, California, USA - FEB 16, 2011
On tap at the Rubicon. Pours dark brown with a thin beige head and a treacle aroma. There is a flat molasses flavor, sort of like a brown ale, a little smokiness, and a dry bitter finish. bhensonb (15355) - Woodland, California, USA - FEB 12, 2011
Tap at the Rubicon. Pours clear dark brown with red notes and a creamy beige head. Aroma is lightly oak or smoke or both and malt. Full body. Flavor is quite freshly fruity with definite oak. Treacle aspects. Smoke floats in and out. Very tasty.

10 ounce sample on tap at Rubicon in Sacramento. The aroma is rather boozy with some herbal hints. Light metallic and roasty with some peat in the background. Improves as it warms, with molasses character becoming apparent. Transparent dark amber body with an off-white head that is smallish. Starts with a light sweetness before some peated malts and molasses flavors budge into the middle of this beer. Quite peaty. Very drinkable with an absolute velvet body and mouthfeel. Very pleasant and enjoyable.
