Medium brown pour with a small tan head. Aroma of malts, smoke, bourbon, licorice. The rye is a little too strong in the flavor for my tastes, brings a woody, smoky character in that doesn’t really mesh with the mild chocolate/licorice in the background. Dry finish, medium body,. Not a big fan. Mora2000 (6158) - McKinney, Texas, USA - DEC 30, 2012
On tap at the Untapped Festival.
The beer pours a dark brown color with a small head. The aroma is a nice mix of rye and chocolate malt. The flavor follows suit. I get a lot of chocolate and roasted malt, but the rye notes also really come through. There is also a nice spice character to the flavor. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. coolpop (1394) - Birmingham, Alabama, USA - NOV 28, 2012
Draft. Poured medium brown with a small off-white head. Aroma and flavor is chock full o’ rye. Plus notes of raisins, wood, light chocolate. Medium mouthfeel. Very drinkable and tasty. OldGrowth (3474) - the Containment Area, North Carolina, USA - NOV 13, 2012
Pint at Tylers Apex. Good aroma. Sweet. Light chocolate. Rye, dark orangy brown color, ok head, little to no lace. Sweet flavor. Has bite. Medium body, light creamy mouthfeel, bitter finish. Kind of Not grabbing my attention. Kind of muddled, gives me a nutty yeasty streak as it warms. Ok. TURDFERGUSON (4058) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - OCT 11, 2012
Tap at Carrboro Beverage. Muddy brown with an off who sudsy cream colored head. Nose is strong rye, fresh malts, light cocoa and coffee. Dry palate, lots of rye character, light grassy hops, roasty, slightly schwarzbier like. I really enjoyed this beer and plan on coming back for more. Very drinkable. Well done, Tyler!

Draft at Redlight Redlight. Dark brown pour with a light tan head. Aroma of sweet malts, rye spice and some piney hop character. Flavors of chocolate malts, rye spice and some piney hops. Medium to light bodied. Kind of boring. jbruner (5008) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - SEP 30, 2012
Pours a translucent brownish on tap with dissipating tan head and good lacing. Aroma of rye, slight chocolate malt, and light piney hop. Taste is all rye and water basically, weird and not that great. Suttree (6466) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - SEP 20, 2012
On tap, Bearden Beer Market. Brown, thin beige head. Faint aroma of 2x4’s, rye bread or toast, and caramel. Taste is oddly fruity, then woody, then a dry, crisp finish. I like this stuff... erickok (6037) - Leuven, BELGIUM - SEP 18, 2012
Dark bodied and served with a small tan lace. A very modest aroma of cacao and licorice. Disappointing. Taste is okay, but still moderate in roasted and licorice malts. (On tap at The Top) thirdeye11 (6162) - Dallas, Texas, USA - SEP 11, 2012
