Bottle from Star Grocery, Berkeley. Pours clear golden with a creamy off-white head and a citrus aroma. There is a carbonated pale malt flavor with a hint of carbonation and a satisfyingly bitter hop finish. Easy to drink and tastes good. SphinxTX (2875) - Mata Gorda, Texas, USA - MAY 8, 2011
12 oz bottle from Beer Camp variety pack. Pours a light, clear amber with white head. Aroma of light caramel, some grain, light hop floral. Flavor od toasted grain, light hop spice, light earth, small bitter in the end. Mouth feel is light-medium body with high carbonation. Overall, very tasty! 355mL from Beer Camp Sampler Pack. The pour is clear gold deep yellow, large, creamy off-white, rocky head. Excellent whipped cream retention and spotty lace. Aroma is honey, sugar, apple juice, mulled cider. Taste is sweet, mild bitterness, light apple juice, spicy alcohol, big malt huskiness and raw oatmeal. No biscuit or diacetyl I get from Anchor Steam, which I’ll consider the classic of this style. Palate is fuller, sweet, apple juice, malty, mildly metallic. scrizzz (2223) - Bothell, Washington, USA - MAY 6, 2011
fruity pineapple nose, apricot and a little poopy. perhaps odd for the style, but loving it. clear gold, small white head. sharp body, thin and almost abrasive. juice creeps back a bit in the finish. j12601 (11010) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - MAY 6, 2011
Bottle. Pours a clear golden orange with a medium to large white head. Crisp grain, light caramel, toast and malt. Clean and sweet, toast and a smooth amount of caramel toastiness, light crackery grain. Finishes dry and grainy, more toast. Nice and easy drinking.

Bottle: Pale golden, very clear, moderate frothy white head, spotty lacing. Sweet straw/grass/hay on the nose. Seems a little mealy, but not too bad. Similar on the tongue, straw, hay, and general grassiness. Tiz fairly sweet, and also mealy. Bigger than others. Seems fairly full bodied. Slight hint of fruitiness to this one in the finish. Overall tiz decent. Seems to be a bit of both words. Minor hops as well. portableparty (2347) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - MAY 6, 2011
2011 bottle (beer camp series #8). Clear golden amber pour with a big off white frothy head that fades to a film. Aroma is sweet grassy grain malts and some caramel. Taste is more the same grassy malts and finishs with some faint fruitiness and spice. Palate is thin slick and finishes dry. Easy drinker on warm sunny days. beerlover82 (241) - Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 5, 2011
Pours into pint glass a deep golden yellow witih half-finger thick foamy cloud-white head, some bubbles
Grassiness, slight toasted malted barley ,little to no hops present. Has a typical but good lager aroma. Actually good aroma for a lager style.
Nice mouthwash of lager-type maltiness, some nuttiness, faint fruits and a good but faint trace of hops in the background.Carbonation is at the above-medium gassy/burpy level, but not overdone.Lightly medium body, average for a beer of this style.
Very good, light yet still has some good palate without being too sweet.

With all the monstrous Sierra Nevada beers on tap at Aces & Ales, this one stands out like a sour thumb, so I’m trying to be as objective as possible. Very little aroma, but orange in color. This is very malty, esp. compared to everything else tonight. Pretty good, but not on this big-beer evening. popery (2170) - San Francisco, California, USA - APR 25, 2011
Best of Beer Camp bottle from 4/1/11, 24 days ago.
Pours a bright amber gold with a thick head of white foam. Good lacing
The aroma is grassy and bready. This is strong, rich pilsner territory. It’s close to being over the top and I’d really prefer a lighter, cleaner aroma, but the beer has a certain charm.
The flavor starts with some malt sweetness which fades into yeasty notes and gentle grassy bitterness. This is more malt forward than a pilsner but it definitely leans that direction. There’s a touch of citrus on the palate. Not bad, but I’m not a big fan of the relatively heavy steam beer notes.
Round and full on the palate. A touch oily in the finish. Good aftertaste. Little booze.
