12 ounce bottle, pours pitch black with little carbonation, aromas of light roast, oats, chocolate, and some anise. Flavors follow suit, light silkyness on the palate. Solid stout overall where it doesn’t taste like a 9% abv beer. maneliquor (3514) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - NOV 13, 2012
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours black with a small brown head which slowly disappears. Nose is full of charcoal and powdery cocoa. A hint of aniseed comes through as it warms. Taste shows the cocoa powder nicely with loads of liquorice behind it all. A touch ashy and tarry which works nicely as it isn’t too over the top. Drinks pretty easy for a 9%er. 750 ml. Black body with a frothy tan head, rapidly diminishing. Big aroma of roasted malts, licorice, coffee. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Medium to full body, velvety texture, soft carbonation. Roast dominates the flavor as well. Lingering bitterness long into the finish. Taste of anise, chocolate, bitter coffee. Elwood (3347) - Leesburg, Virginia, USA - NOV 12, 2012
Serving: 12 oz. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a thick, deep brown with a lasting tan head. The nose has a bit of chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor continues with the roasted malt and adds in some bittersweet chocolate, a touch of licorice, stone fruit, and cocoa powder. Full bodied with a lasting finish. Rich but not decadent. A solid stout. Zombeer (59) - New Jersey, USA - NOV 12, 2012

Bottle. Chocolate, vanilla, and oat/barley malt aroma. Opaque brown-black with small but persistent tan head. Lightly sweet chocolate malt flavor with an ashy, bitter alcohol finish. Okay but a bit harsh. BeerZack (432) - Asheville, North Carolina, USA - NOV 8, 2012
Smells of cocoa, vanilla, confectioners sugar and roasted barley. Flavor is pretty big on the roast, but the smooth mouthfeel keeps it drinkable. jkwalking05 (4745) - Arlington, Texas, USA - NOV 4, 2012

Bottle. Pours an opaque dark brown with a moderate soapy light brown head. Potent aroma of roasty malt with some chocolate sweetness. Flavorful, quite dry, somewhat bitter with a dark chocolate semi-sweet body. LIvely carbonation and a full smooth feel. GranvilleTim (1857) - Granville, Illinois, USA - NOV 3, 2012
Black pour with a brown head. Aroma is roasted malt and oats. Taste is roasted malt, sweet oats, really smooth flavor. A little chalky aftertaste. You notice the alcohol at the end. Very pleasant overall.
