Bottle. Thick dark black pour, ring of dark carbonation and an aroma of rich roasted dark malt, chocolate and vanilla. Flavor is also creamy rich roasted dark malt, peat, a little soy sauce melded nicely with dark chocolate and finished slightly sweet. Solid beer in every way, I’d buy the hell out of this if it were available regularly rocbyter (2124) - Waterbury, Connecticut, USA - AUG 30, 2012
Moderate dark malt aroma. Black color with a medium brown head. Mild sweet beginning with a moderate bitter finish. Creamy palate with a light amount of chalk in the end. TheJester (2542) - Cavan Monaghan, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 29, 2012
355 mL bottle. Easily the best of this 4-some. Roast and dark-chocolate covered cherries stand out in this one. Smooth from the oats. Nice roasty bitterness. No booze. larryLSB (533) - La Selva Beach, California, USA - AUG 28, 2012
From the Beer Camp 12 pack, poured dark, dark brown with medium tan head that quickly disspated. Second one in the pack, after dinner on the eve of a few days off. Nose was sweet, malty, chocolate, tad of oatmeal, which grew as the beer warmed. Taste was more on the sweet side. Full bodied beer, a bit on the chewy side. The label is a bit misleading, with no mention of "Imperial..." Overall the best in the 12 pack. JPDurden24 (1675) - Chandler, Arizona, USA - AUG 28, 2012
Dark black pour with a beige head. Decent lacing. Roasty and cocoa nose with a similar taste and some sweet dark chocolate malts. One of my faves of the beer camp series. Enjoyable!

Draft. Blackish beer with a tan head. Malt and light toffee aroma. Toffee and chocolate flavor with light coffee and light fruitiness. Medium-plus bodied. Chooclate and coffee linger with light toffee. bytemesis (8411) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - AUG 28, 2012
UPDATED: NOV 25, 2012 Rerate from bottle - definitely fuller bodied and creamier, improved aroma and taste (7/4/7/4/15) My combined rating will average this and previous.
Tap@ Rose and Crown (08/28/2012). Opaque brown black, small tan head, creamy with lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, quite mild actually. Flavor is sweet, roasted malt, coffee, notes of chocolate, grain. Strong coffee bitterness. Light bodied and a bit watery. Coffee bitter and warming finish. Not top tier. Bottle from a multipack from the Folsom BevMo. Pours black with a creamy dark tan head. Aromas of chocolate and a little coffee. Full bodied. Flavor is dark chocolate with a suggestion of coffee. Very smooth burnt malt. Not a trace of heat. Finishes tasty! Terminus (3683) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - AUG 26, 2012
bottle-purchased at Jubilation in Albuquerque NM Aug 2012-pours opaque black with a small dark kacki soapy/somewhat sprtizy head. no lacing or legs here. nose is full of char. roast, lite astringency, tar, dark chocolate, alcohol-big nose! I think this beer would age pretty well. flavors of huge char, dark chocolate, roast, but mostly char here. a huge black patent malt bomb. finish is long with hints of alcohol, roast and char. body is somewhat fizzy for an IS however, could calm down with some age. A very solid rendition of this style however, not overly complex to be in the top tier of this class.
