Tasting at Bruce’s new pad. Lightly hazy red-amber beer. Tidy pale cream coloured head. Palate is smooth with fine carbonation. Smooth malt and smooth bourbon, just a little spice. Fruity tang with mild berries and a whisper of coconut. Light dry finish. Good BA Barleywine.
Bottle shared at Bruce’s in London - thanks to Ken. Pours clear amber with a frothy, tan head. The nose has leaves, dry caramel, dry bread, some wood. Medium sweet flavor with boozy punchy, leaves and earth, dry wood, dry caramel, bitter toasted grass. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warm finish, lots of earthy bitterness, dry caramel, dry wood, some leathery berries. Not bad. Theydon_Bois (20497) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - NOV 17, 2012
Bottle @ Frank’s (Ramnuts) tasting, thanks to Michael - 06/11/12.
Lightly obscured dark amber with a thin off white head that soon clears to the edges.
Nose is sweet toffee, caramel, sugars, Chanel perfume, sharp booze.
Taste follows nose in most respects, dates, pruncs, dark fruits, light paint stripper (yeah - like I know what that tastes like!!!), boozy - a little on the harsh side.
Full bodied with lihght carbonation lending towards a boozy finish.

Golden-brown and bright. Boozy, fruity, calvados aromatics with brown sugar elements. Fat body. Lots of booze, hints of wood and vanilla, caramel, chocolate and toast. Big flavour, lots of fun.
750mL bottle, pours a deep dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out loads of vanilla, along with caramel, whiskey and wood. Flavour brings out a lot of heat, but is very complex, bringing out loads of whiskey, booze, vanilla, some caramelized sugar, and caramel. Extremely hot / very boozy - this would do well with some years on it. But even as it is now, it’s quite complex and even drinkable for the ABV and heat. Good, but I much prefer the regular Bigfoot.
