COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Bigfoot Barleywine is a craft beer legend. Each winter, this beast of a beer appears and wreaks havoc on unsuspecting palates with its intense bittersweet flavors. This year—in honor of the 30th Anniversary of this style-bending brew— we’re releasing a very special version of this cult classic: Aged in oak whiskey casks for nearly two years, this barrel-aged Bigfoot is incredibly complex. The assault of resinous hops has mellowed, and the influence of the wood has shifted focus toward the malt—with rich burnt-sugar flavors and notes of vanilla, toasted coconut, and raisins. Grab this elusive beast while you can, because it won’t be around for long.

UPDATED: MAR 5, 2013 Really surprised this one isn’t up there. Brown sugar earthy vanilla molasses dripping with honey coated raisins pine cone caramalized liquid yumminess slathered in the time of wooden whiskey vessels

I’ve been away from trying new beers for a little while, and start off again with Sierra Nevada’s Bigfoot ale, was a great choice. The appearance reminded me of a cream soda (my perspective influenced by my wife’s craving for the soda). The aroma is of an oak whiskey barrel and the flavor is complex with sweet smoky flavor. I love this beer.

Rich cola brown color with a dense head of sand colored foam. Has the caramel rich malt and bold pine resin hoppiness holding it together from the standard Bigfoot. This monster evolves that classic boldness of Bigfoot and cranks it up with intense aromas and flavors of vanilla, oak, prune, burnt sugar, and warming whiskey.

750 shared at Craft Ale House. Clear copper pour,, looking a lot like bourbon. Nose is huge and complex; with huge oaky whiskey notes, vanilla, plum, spirity heat. I could smell this one for hours. Tastes rich, complex, with big oaky and whiskey flavors up front, some mid-palate heat, vanilla, plum, hops, figgy fruit, and a smooth, powerful finish. This is one of the best beers I have quaffed.

Drinking 2011 bottle. Holy dark fruit richness.. An intense malt, alcohol heat and beautiful bite. Head is white and holds well with nice lacing. I have 2 6pks aging in dark cool place and has been worth the wait. There is this sharp dryness at the end that really plays well with the rich malt and alcohol.

This beer is fantastic. Great tastes of vanilla and caramel. Finishes with a strong whiskey and oak flavor. Overall great beer.

Had the privilege of having this amazing brew last night. Pours a cloudy Amber/yellow with a white cream head. You immediately get smells of malts, vanilla, subtle bourbon and good fruit notes. Taste is unbelievably smooth. Get a great flavor from the bourbon barrels. Good woody quality with rich vanilla. Mouth feel is very thick and lingering and the finish is as smooth as velvet. Nice sweet bourbon finish.

Deep caramel red with a foamy lasting head. Dried fruit and leather smells. Butter scotch taste that moves to a leather finish. Nice full mouth feel.

Incredibly red. Smooth, rich booze, vanilla and baking spice. Soft and mellow with long, caramel maltiness. No heat. None, it’s almost unrecognizable and it is amazing.

750 ml bottle. Pours a deep , clear, rusty ruby red color with a medium sized cream colored head. Aroma of coconut, vanilla, oak, whiskey and toffee. Taste of whiskey, coconut, vanilla, oak and toffee notes. Excellent.
