2004 - Dark reddish brown body with a little tan head. Strong hoppy aroma over top of a sweet fruity maltiness. Flavor of citrus hops, alcohol, faint fruitiness. Overly dry, and bitter aftertaste. I'm hoping that this may improve with age. MaiBockAddict (1497) - Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA - MAR 17, 2004
Bottle, 2004. Pours a cloudy brown with a tan head. big hop aroma, american no doubt. Malty alcohol notes as well. Flavor is smooth on the palate, with the hops and malt blending well, yet the hops being the American C's of bigness to not disappoint the fans. Malt is sticky, yet balanced out. No aging is necessary on this vintage. Good effort. kbjames (244) - Utah, USA - MAR 17, 2004
UPDATED: JUL 30, 2004 This is a really really good barleywine and cheap too at 1 buck per bottle. Lots of good flavor and fullness to this beer. A must try!!! ross (2146) - weddington, North Carolina, USA - MAR 17, 2004
!!!!! my first barley wine too. this was a good evening- first barley wine and first imp stout. ok so- pours out dark red in color with a tan colored head. smells of citrus. hops out the ass. has a nice finish, and a very well detected presence of more alcohol. this is great- i really like it. too bad i had to drive an hour to buy a 6 pack of it. flutetokill (523) - Fresno, California, USA - MAR 16, 2004
Nice amber color with a large, extra creamy tan head. Strong hops aroma with a little malt. Extremely strong citrus hops, sweet malt and caramel flavors. Nice moderate carbonation with a dry hops finish. This is a very enjoyable barley wine. Everything about it is extreme!

Pours medium brown color with light head. Bitter, fruity aroma. My mouth waters as this intense, heavily malted complex beer hits my tongue. Fruity and very bitter. A very full, bittersweet palate. This beer is a bit too bold for my taste buds. Still a high quality brew. firemedic713 (169) - Palm Bay, Florida, USA - MAR 15, 2004
Nice dark carmel colored body with a small tan head. Very malty and strong flavor. Extremely bold and delicious. One of my favorites. I will definitely buy this again.

Bottle 2004: pours a color like cherry wood with little head. very nice aroma of fruit and hops...citrus and plums. intense flavor (only my second barley wine) of hops with fruit and carmel following. overall this is very tasty...going to drink one more and then let the remaining 4 sit for a year or two. (Bottle) Alas - the barleywine that all others are compared! Argo0 was kind enough to bring this up during his trip to Montreal in September of 2003 - Thanks friend! And six months is the longest I've ever waited to sample a beer. Pours a thin, almond head and a clouded, mahogany body. The nose is very plummy, port wine sweet malt. Body has a strong oily texture. Flavour is of those salted black licorice candies, mild plums and heavy malt. Excellent example. Thanks again for the sample, pal! brownaler (749) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - MAR 14, 2004
Great balance with this barleywine. Has lots of floral note within. A bit fuller than Old Horizontal.
