COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Blindfold Black IPA features a blend of hop varieties whose bright, fruity aroma complements the coffee-like flavors of dark roasted malts. Blindfold blankets us in darkness yet maintains a surprisingly light body and bold, hoppy character. This black IPA emerged from our Beer Camp program and builds on Sierra Nevada’s legendary love of hops with roasted malts for depth and complexity. Like its namesake, Blindfold is a bit disorienting--the color of a stout and the intense hop-forward flavors of a classic American IPA.

Pours black (duh) with a small tan head that leaves no lacing. Excellent roasted malt aroma intertwined with the grapefruit citrus from the hops. Doesn’t taste as good as it smells but good nonetheless. Coffee and chocolate up front with the grapefruit bitterness at the end. Good body and carbonation. I liked this beer a lot.

Équilibre entre le malt rôti et les arômes des houblons résineux et d’agrumes. L’amertume, bien que présente, n’est pas tranchante ou gênante. On a une belle interprétation sans défaut du style.

Bottle split in the hotel lobby, RBWG ’16, 03 02/16. Extremely dark mahogany brown topped with a decent khaki head. Nose is dusty hop, straw, light charr, earthy notes, disappointingly thin. Taste comprises light pine, earthy roast, liquorice, charr, cocoa rub, red berry linger. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close doused with earthy hop bitterness. Ok CDA.

Bottle. Pours black with a large cream coloured frothy head. Aroma is slightly burnt malts with coffee and an earthiness to it. Smooth on the taste with a flavour of malts with hints of chocolate and coffee. Dry and bitter finish.
