Sample @ Charleston Brewvival 2015. Deep brown pour with a small off-white head. Nose is pretty substantial. Lots of meaty smoke. Toasted oats. Some dark chocolate and burnt brown sugar. Flavor is well balanced. A bit hot. Sweet / bitter / umami working in harmony. Some vanilla and chocolate fudge. A bit of smokey ham. Creamy. Full body, oily. Accomplished stuff. a great example of a barrel complementing a beer rather than covering it up. I have to think they amped up the smoke/char on this batch as it is at least as smoky as the non BA version. On draft at Tap 25. It pours black with a light tan head. The aroma is very heavy with bourbon, vanilla, caramel and lighter notes of wet wood. Some fudge. The flavor is alcohol heavy with sweet vanilla, wood and circus peanuts (the candy). A little roasted malt. The smoke did not really make it’s presence here unfortunately. Just a hint maybe. On tap at GABBF 2015. Pours a dark mahogany color with wisps of black, a small grey head. A big bourbon nose, vanilla, roast, charred wood. Dry overall, smoke, whiskey, vanilla, very oaky. Works perfect. The flavor is not too sweet or hot, but instead very drinkable. Damn good.

On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad’s Barrel Blast. Pours with a very dark, black body with a brown head that is slow to fade. Aromas of chocolate, smoke, salty, vanilla and barrel. Co-rate! Sierra Nevada brought it strong to Barrel Blast. Tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Aroma of booze and chocolate. Taste is very smooth coffee grounds and velvety chocolate. Very nice.
