On tap at Falling Rock poured a clear reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of toffee, spice, light fruittiness and a hint of spice. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Almost clear coppery-brown color; with a very light tan half-finger of head. Tart, a little citric; touch yeasty. Fairly muted overall aroma. Sour and tart at first like unripened dark fruits; decent enough and fairly tight package. Thinner; prickly carbonation. Nice enough and refreshing, even if it does take some liberties with what I would associate with the style. Not bad at all, and a nice summer brew. On cask at the Whole Foods / CCB Cask Event. It pours clear deep copper brown with off white head. The aroma is spicy – coriander – yeastiness to go along with spicy crystallized malts. The taste is similar with fairly bright notes of assorted spices like coriander mixing with a yeasty spiciness and an herbal sensation. On tap at Bocktown. Not a bad beer but kind of takes away from what a saison is (a light colored beer). Aroma was decent. Very alcoholic with moments of earth and yeast. Pour was a nice light brown with a one finger off white head.Taste was pretty good. Caramel malt, yeast and this weird rubbing alcohol flavor. Hard to explain why it was drinkable but it was and I enjoyed it. There was a light fruitiness in there as well. Not what I would consider a saison by any means, but a decent beer.

Growler from Consumer’s Beverage in Buffalo. Reddish-brown with thick tan head. Lovely and complex aroma with notes of banana, cocoa, yeast, orange peel, clove & brown sugar with a slightly tart edge. Soft mouthfeel with fairly low carbonation - I had the growler for close to a week before opening it, so I suspect it might’ve been a bit more lively when first pulled. Nice flavour with many of the elements suggested by the aroma, and a moderately boozy finish. Appearance: Served up a clear, dark mahogany-hued body with a thin, wispy, off-white head.
Smell: Fairly spicy, herbaceous aroma with notes of everything from cloves to peppercorns leading the way. Lesser background hints of brown sugar, toasted malts, and banana.
Taste: Dry malt character with darkened toasty tones and light touches of brown sugar and nuts. Mild banana fruitiness. Then, the tongue gets a blitz of zesty herbaceousness and pops of black pepper and cracked cloves. Modest hop bitterness. Furthering of spice flavors, a touch of alcohol, and some crackling crispness (it’s like Pop Rocks in my mouth!) on the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-high, sharp carbonation, giving this one a really snappy carbonic bite to it.
Drinkability: I was curious to sample this blending of styles, but this was a beer that, well, I just didn’t care for from sip one. Pours a slightly dark tan with a bit of offwhite head. Aroma of brown sugar, banana taffy, and some sort of sweet spice. The flavor is subdued with faint notes of bread, brown sugar, and a pinch of cinnamon. A bit watery and flat. This was weak and fairly boring. Pours amber brown with a lightly tan head. Aroma is a blend of spices and fruits, with clove and banana coming through. Flavor is a blend of caramel malt, banana, light fruits and spice. Pretty good.
