5 week old bottle > pilsner glass A: Poured a thick pillow of craggy tan foam atop a dark tawny orange gold body with very good retention and busy carbonation visible. S: Orange peel, pine and caramel. Amber-esque. T: Bitter piney hops and lots of orange zest. Light citrus pith and dark bread or wood. M: Medium thick body and more carbonation than expected. Fairly clean finish with very little resin. O: Thought this would be overly sweet but I don't get any extraneous spices etc. (fortunately). Been putting off trying it but found it pretty enjoyable.

(12oz bottle) AROMA: good hoppy nose, grapefruit, green, fresh, grass, pine, resin, some sour malt .... classic IPA nose. APPEARANCE: amber, brownish, very nice off-white head that is quite lingering and sticky TASTE: toasted malt, touch of coffee, woody, smokey, solid hops PALATE: medium body, good balance, crisp up front, oily middle, bitter followthru, OVERALL: very drinkable IPA with good body and balance, classic west-coast american IPA hoppiness but not overhopped. A rich and flavorful IPA that you could drink regularly.

ah it is finally celebration ale season again, the only good thing about daylight savings time. it has a nice hoppy resin pine smell with a red amber hue. It is a delectable balance of warming bitter hops and fruity malt backbone coming over on the aftertaste. One of my fave beers period and maybe my favorite sierra nevada one. Good for dashed 300 rise of an empire hopes with boo boo.

Dark copper appearance covered by off-white head. Rich hop and caramel malt aromas. Well balanced sweet hops and biscuity malt up front. Good body and mouth feel. Long finish with pleasant bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The best APA that I have ever tasted. The barley malt to hops ratio is as close to perfection as I have ever experienced! If you haven't tried it, then you are in for a treat!

From Nov 2005 Poured from the bottle(room temp) with a nice head that dissipated fairly slowly into a fine broken layer in the center and a fine lacing around the edge of glass. The colour is a very attractive and clear reddish gold. The smell is a strong hoppy-fruity aroma that is very inviting, so compelling. The taste is very strong hops with grapefruit notes that jumps at you early then settles down a bit in the middle with some malt tones and returns with a very nice bitterness in the aftertaste. Wow! This is one of my favourite brews of *any* style!

Sehr lecker!
