I have been waiting such a long time to taste this that it has become somewhat of an iconic beer. Unfortunately for this beer the Aussie scence has improved significantly as well as the availability of some seriously great US IPAs. So I have to now admit that this is rated on the basis of the competition. Still a great aroma and presentation in the glass. The hop presence is fine but not assertive. A bloody great beer as it would have been many years ago had I had it then. Now, a fine ale, but not a knockout.

Bottle at Cafès Tes Sabadell. Subtitled “Fresh Hop IPA”. Amber/Copperish with white head. Pine and caramel aromas. Bitter start, but sweet as well. Noble and refreshingly balanced. Easy and solid beer.

CAN. My first taste would have been the 2014 vintage. Straight from can on this rating.. Piney heavy malt aroma.. Has big sappy malt upfront, goes to the piney hops, sappy.. Sourced cape cellara

UPDATED: FEB 16, 2018 Pint from tap at the North Star. A well balanced mix of roasted malt, light hops and caramel. It improves its flavour when it warms

GreenCat (241) - SLOVENIA - FEB 8, 2018
0,355 l bottle, 2017. Pours copper with a finger of lasting tan head. Aroma is mix of sweet malt aroma, biscuit, caramel and piny, resinous and light citrus hop notes. Taste is quite sweet and medium to heavy bitter. Body is medium to full, texture is oily and carbonation above average. Finish is long, initial sweetness is overridden by quite heavy bitterness that lingers on tongue for a while.
