Bottle. The pour was a very dark brown with caramel highlights and an average sized (1-2 finger) creamy light brown head that had good longevity, reducing some but lasting throughout thus producing some really excellent sheets of lace left sticking to the glass. The aroma was right up front with a sweet alcohol presence and had a strong caramel malt, a mild resin hop and a sweet doughy yeast with notes of maple syrup, caramel, dark fruit and a hint of cola. The taste was malty sweet with notes of caramel and maple syrup at first, and then it became sweetly bitter and slightly acetic with a hint of dark fruit and a moderate alcohol finish. The flavor lasted an extremely long time after the swallow with a strong alcohol dark fruit taste sticking around for a while. Mouthfeel was just past medium in body with the texture being creamy and a tad dry and having a strong carbonation. Overall a very sweet, flavorful and potent brew that definitely should be sipped and savored slowly.

Rich caramel with molasses and maple tones were great. It is definitely a beer to be sipped. It was thick, rich, and full of flavor which was exactly what I was after.

750mL bottle from Beer Run. Woody aromas, birch syrup. Cloudy brown with no head. Lightly sweet, very earthy, woodsy. Medium-full bodied.

From notes. Enjoyed at a bottle share at Sean’s on December 29. 750 mL bottle. The pour is a dark amber brown color with a light tan head that froths down to a film, leaving a good bit of lace behind. The aroma is really sweet. There is a strong woodiness to this and a lot of sweet caramel malt. There are hints of dark fruit, but this is just sweet sugar, wood, and caramel. The flavor is much of the same. The toffee and woodiness don’t really go together, but the dark fruits are a little more prominent and the woodiness keeps things in check. It’s a little messy, but not awful. The mouth feel is medium bodied with a nice softer carbonation and a lingeringly sweet caramel and wood on the back end. This is just a weird beverage.

Bottle. It poured a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma was of roasted malts, maple syrup, chocolate and vanilla. The taste was similar to the aroma with more chocolate, molasses, maple syrup, roasted and caramel malts and some booziness.
