The aroma is pretty fragrant and perfumey with some citrus and doughy malts. Golden pour with a nice head and sticky lacing. Moderately sweet and malty - like cookie dough with some floral and citrus hops in the finish too. Creamy body, nice hoppy finish. Maverick34 (3390) - New York, USA - NOV 27, 2008
Draft @ Waterfront on 2nd Ave. Pours an amber Sweet and not quite as powerful in flavor as I’d like. highibus (823) - Vail, Arizona, USA - NOV 21, 2008
on tap at 1702 pours a light amber with thin white head. good lacing. aroma of only sweet malt and alcohol. flavor comes through har dwith a twinge of something weird up front and then the sweetness comes theough. not bad but heavy and off a little. good body and alcohol. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - NOV 3, 2008
Crystal clear bright medium golden amber. Thin, loose white head. Sharp boozy nose, lots of earth and dry leaves there as well. Crisp, light, slightly fizzy body. Twang, diacetyl, earth, and dry leaves on the mid-palate, along with some salt. Not much happening here, none of it much good. Mechtly (1) - Georgia, USA - NOV 1, 2008 does not count
I have only found this beer on draft. Superb aroma, nice caramel color, and a slight bready adn outstanding tasty flavor from first sip to after the last sip. Have 1 or several and feel the flavor burst.

tap @ sierra. Not thrilled with this offering. Poured light golden and thought I was getting the wrong beer. Soft carmel hops and a bigger hop backbone than I was expecting. Maybe I was looking for more flavor It’s ok. phishpond417 (2088) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 21, 2008
So this is a blonde dopplebock. Pours a bright semi cloudy golden colour with a hint of orange near the bottom. Head is large and flowing, creamy and sort of resinous. Aroma is bready, soft hops, caramel malts and toast. Taste is full and slightly hoppy. Big bright fruits ecspecially pear and peach. Overall nice beer, packs a punch thast for sure. notalush (5955) - Lakewood, Colorado, USA - OCT 20, 2008
Tap at Barcade - clear copper beer - this beer is all booze - the aroma is alcoholic, floral and sweet - thin-bodied for such a strong beer, and as a result, the alcohol shows even more - boozy, barleywine-like character, but without the complexity to back it up - fairly strong hoppiness, typical of this brewer, but it does nothing to help it - finish of hops, sugar, vodka - this is a mess. crazyvin (2026) - New York, USA - OCT 20, 2008
on tap- poured a clear brown hue with a thin white head that had someretention.Sweet caramel aroma with a hint of warming alcohol. Flavor ssemed to showcase the alcholic content of this brew as well as brown sugar and caramel notes. Finish was smooth. WISEGUY572 (1377) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 19, 2008
I think this is better than the ratings indicate, and the ratings would have been better if it had not been called a double bock. It’s more of a double Sierra Pale ... Strong, malty, hoppy, good body, great bitter finish. But it has nothing in common with a double bock except alcohol.
