COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Teutonic take on the traditional IPA features spicy German grown hops and an expressive Kolsch yeast. The result is a golden beer with a moderate bitterness and an intensely fruity aroma reminiscent of raspberry and lemon peel. Prost!

12 fl oz bottle via Piscator34. Pours a light hazy yellow (due to sediment) with a robust and persistent white head. Aromas are lemon and chalk. Tastes are fruit, dry and lightly bitter on the back end. Light body, dry like biting paper, and a medium bitter/acidic finish. Not my favourite Sierra Nevada offering.

bottle, rated in early 2017 - Clear gold pour. It has a fruity, hop led aroma. The flavor is crisp and bitter with tasty citrus and other fruit notes. Good balance. Medium bodied. Very good.

September 2017 - Bottle share at Leighton's. Huge thanks! As 'Sierra Nevada German Style IPA'. Pale golden yellow, still with a foamy white head that leaves light lacing. Aroma is papery, light and airy. Boyd is smooth with soft carbonation. Taste is biscuity malts, straw, little grassy, grains. Not very exciting. (5-4-5-3-13=3.0)

Hackney Bottleshare. Thanks to Wingman. Light haze on this gold beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is light and mildly dry, good fine carbonation. Sweetish malts, a light lager character. Crisp citric hop, little lemon and orange a trace of sherbet. Touch of grapefruit before a light and slightly tangy finish. Considering the DIPA hop onslaught before this beer, it's standing up well.

355 ml bottle bought at Q-Club in SoHo, Central.

Looks: Clear straw golden honey colour; Half finger head with soapy white foam which fades in 40 seconds; Excellent sticky lacing with active slight carbonation.

Aroma: Very fragrant Ale malt, with peaches, papaya, strong yellow fruits, candied fruits, honey, floral, sugar, spices, biscuits, lemon and grass.

Taste: Mid to light sweet Ale malt, with strong grapefruits, light yellow fruits, tartness, floral, light molasses, strong spices, herbs, biscuits, strong lime, strong bitter hops and sharp grass.

Body: Mid to light body. Fairly slick palate.

Mouth Feel: Strong Ale maltyness in a somewhat thin background. The combination of strong citrusy and spicy hops light up the show with strong grapefruits, strong spices and herbs. Flowery with low sweetness. Biscuity with strong lime to round. Very solid and nice!

Hoppiness: Peaches, papaya, strong yellow fruits, candied fruits, floral, spices, lemon and grass in nose. Strong grapefruits, yellow fruits, floral, strong spices, herbs, strong lime and sharp grass in taste; Bitterness is very strong for a lasting, high astringent bitter-sweet herbal malty finish.

After taste: Quite dry. Limey spicy and strong bitter to mouth.

Comments: I wasn't too impressed with German IPAs, mostlydue to the disappointing stuff from Camba Bavaria. This one, though, has a lively fruity aroma to keep me interested, and while the hoppiness is rather traditional (American citrus and German spicy), it is quite massive and lingering to the mouth. An impressive brew. Will buy again!

12 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, bottled on 12/15/2016. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy medium golden/yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, melon, berry, peppercorn, pine, cracker, biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of earthy/spicy hops, pale malt, and light-moderate fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of big lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, melon, berry, peppercorn, pine, cracker, biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon zest, orange peel, pear, apple, melon, berry, peppercorn, pine, cracker, biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of earthy/spicy hops, pale malt, and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and zero astringent hop flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/sticky, and fairly crisp balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6.1%. Overall this is a delicious English IPA. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of earthy/spicy hops, pale malt, and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Nice showcase of German noble hops with restrained Kolsch yeast character; and nice bready malt backbone for balance. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Draught at KØ17. Fruity aroma. Clear golden colour. Small white head. The flavour is chalky. Does not have much hop flavour for an IPA.
