A complex and versatile new hop.

Our history with Equinox hops stretches back well before this newly developed varietal ever had a name. We were the first brewery in the world to get our hands on the intense and nuanced hop. We fell in love with the complex aromas ranging from bright and citrusy to herbal and woody, with a top note of fruity, garden-fresh bell pepper. Equinox is part of our five-bottle Harvest series, which features single hop, fresh hop, wet hop, and wild hop beers.

Bottled (backlog). Hazy goldeny orange colour with a mediumsized foamy white head, which leaves some lace. Aroma is hops, some bready notes, mild spiciness and herbs as well as some toffeeish notes. Flavour is fruity and floral with some sweet malts and ends in a grassy and herbal bitterness.

Gravity Cask Third of a Pint at GBBF 2014, Olympia, London Aug 2014 - Orangey Gold in colour. Fruity; orange and grapefruit citrus. Hoppy; piney hops. Malty; biscuity malts, caramel. Fairly bitter citrus fruity throughout. Decent. (2014-08-12)

Bottle:   Looks great, nice head and lacing.   Soft pepper and tea/tobacco leaf aroma.   Same on the tongue.   Smooth, soft bitterness.   Crisp and clean.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   Soft earth, pepper, tea, and tobacco leaves on the finish.   Solid IPA.   Not real flora or citrusy, but a nice spicy tea/tobacco leaf example.

Herbal and slightly vegetal aroma. Definitely a unique hop variety. Flavor was fresh with lots of subtleties. Not a favorite, but nice.

[ As Sierra Nevada Harvest Single Hop IPA - Equinox ].
Clear medium orange color with a average, open and frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate hoppy, citrus, grass, orange - citrus. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, sharp hops, citrus, grass, dry, fruity hops. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20140814]

Pours a dark golden, slightly cloudy. Aroma has pine and grass. Taste has lots of hops, pine and grass. Has a nice balance, slightly astringent.

tfontana (1093) - Fremont, New Hampshire, USA - JUN 18, 2015
Bottle from The Drinkery, Londonderry NH. Aroma is malty bread. Appearance is hazy light golden brown with finger-width foamy head with poor retention and foamy lacing. Taste is mildly sweet initially with more bold bitter back half and finish. Palate is medium body with thick texture and lively carbonation at the tip and sides of the tongue. This was not drunk fresh (in first 100 days after being born) so may not be the best reflection of how the beer is meant to be had.

Aniela (4216) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JUN 11, 2015
From my backlogg: Sample at Great British Beer Festival 2014. Clear golden beer with an offwhite head. Fruity hoppy grassy citrus aroma. Fruity sourish citrus grassy flavour.

I did not enjoy this beer, for an IPA there is zero hops on the nose, it pours like a miller lite w extra head. Absolutely no bitterness or hop flavor whatsoever, Almost had a seltzer water aftertaste, very disappointed, main stream breweries cant quite get the IPA style down properly, I would keep Sierra Nevada WAY out of the micro brewery category.
